Story
Adopting the structure and themes of the Arthurian legend, Steinbeck created a Camelot on a shabby hillside above the town of Monterey, California, and peopled it with a colorful band of knights. At the center of the tale is Danny, whose house, like Arthur’s castle, becomes a gathering place for men looking for adventure, camaraderie, and a sense of belonging—men who fiercely resist the corrupting tide of honest toil and civil rectitude.

Steinbeck classic
Reviewed: 01-07-23
This is a classic Steinbeck book and I can see why. It is a good story and again demonstrates Steinbecks love/admiration for the underdog. The reason why I don’t have it at 4 stars is because I thought some of the storytelling could have been better. But I will say that I do still recommend this for any fan of Steinbeck or someone just looking for a good story.

So good!

I normally don’t do written reviews but this audio book warranted one. This autobiographical memoir is so good that I highly recommend it to anyone but especially the classic rock music fan! Elton John rocks!!!

Story
At the heart of these stories, as with all the best of Lovecraft’s work, is the belief that the Earth was once inhabited by powerful and evil gods, just waiting for the chance to recolonise their planet. Cthulhu is one such god, lurking deep beneath the sea until called into being by cult followers who – like all humans – know not what they do.

A bit confusing but definitely a classic and very imaginative. I will relisten in the near future as there were some parts of the stories that I missed.
