Story
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

Remarkably sweet

This was a full story. I wanted to know the characters and I wanted to be where they were. There was a bit of mystery and a lot of hope, both paid off. I just felt good when I was listening to this.

Story
Something dark is lurking in the Louisiana bayou: a methodical killer with a penchant for medical experimentation is hard at work completing his most harrowing crime yet, taunting the authorities who desperately try to catch up. But forensic pathologist Dr. Wren Muller is the best there is. Armed with an encyclopedic knowledge of historical crimes, and years of experience working in the Medical Examiner's office, she's never encountered a case she couldn't solve. Until now.

I wanted to like this so much. I think Alaina is so interesting. She's fun and smart and open in her podcast. she's a great story teller. BUT I couldn't quite make it here. I think the narrators were most of my trouble, but the story is sometimes campy.
I didn't finish this - maybe it's a lot better after the first hour or so. Try it. I hope you like it as much as I wanted to. just listen to the narration first and remember it's a first work.

Story
Robert and Mkiwa Livingston are happily ensconced in their tranquil life in Geneva, Switzerland, when Robert's best friend drops dead from a brain aneurysm, sparking a mid-life crisis. Nostalgic for the New England of his youth, Robert begs his wife for a chance to go back to his native America. As the Livingstons settle into their new home in Marblehead, Massachusetts, they - along with the rest of the country - become engrossed in a popular TV show called Quiet Time, about a family who decide to give up all electronic devices and smartphones for one year.

The narrator...

I have really enjoyed Derek Miller's work in the past. Unfortunately, I didn't make it past the first hour this time. The narrator sounds like a volunteer reading to children at the library, emphasizing each sound in every word with a tone meant for the very young. Maybe some day I can actually sit to read this one, but I'll never be able to listen to this version.
