Lewis and Mariah are a thrice-blessed couple - handsome, rich, and seemingly happy. Yet almost at once, Lucy begins to notice cracks in their beautiful façade. With mingled anger and compassion, Lucy scrutinizes the assumptions and verities of her employers' world and compares them with the vivid realities of her native place.

This is the first full length book I have read by an author whose unapologetic voice about what it means to be oneself is so refreshing.

Story
Ulysses is regarded by many as the single most important novel of the 20th century. It tells the story of one day in Dublin, June 16th 1904, largely through the eyes of Stephen Dedalus (Joyce's alter ego from Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man) and Leopold Bloom, an advertising salesman. Both begin a normal day, and both set off on a journey around the streets of Dublin, which eventually brings them into contact with one another.

Listening makes all the difference in unpacking James Joyce’s inimitably webbed words strung with precision requiring voices instructing semblances of comprehension. Thank you for letting me glimpse understanding with this audible presentation.

I just re-read this book once again and hearing Kenneth Branagh breathe new life into Conrad’s words was delightful.
