Story
In the latest volume of his celebrated series of Time Traveler's Guides, Ian Mortimer turns to what is arguably the most-loved period in British history—the Regency, or Georgian England. A time of exuberance, thrills, frills, and unchecked bad behavior, it was perhaps the last age of true freedom before the arrival of the stifling world of Victorian morality. At the same time, it was a period of transition. Conveying the sights, sounds, and smells of the Regency period, this is history at its most exciting—the past not as something to be studied, but as lived experience.

Skip the Envoi chapter and you'll probably enjoy it more. Sometimes author commentary makes the whole worst than its parts.

Story
In August of 1914, the British ship Endurance set sail for the South Atlantic. In October 1915, still half a continent away from its intended base, the ship was trapped, then crushed in the ice. For five months, Sir Ernest Shackleton and his men, drifting on ice packs, were castaways in one of the most savage regions of the world. Lansing describes how the men survived a 1,000-mile voyage in an open boat across the stormiest ocean on the globe and an overland trek through forbidding glaciers and mountains.

at times. An unbelievable story, read perfectly by Preble. There were parts early on that were a little slow, but keep with it and you will be rewarded by a heart-pounding ending. Even knowing the fate of Shackelton's crew, Lansing had me on edge. Incredible!

Hardly a club in the conventional sense, the organization referred to in the title of this superb literary hybrid (part history, part biography, part philosophy) consisted of four members and probably existed for less than nine months.

Exceeded expectations. An interesting listen that requires a second/third go round with notebook.
The reader is better than most but not spectacular.

An entertaining book skillfully read by Egan.
One of the few books that is much easier and faster to listen to rather than read.

If you could sum up The Count of Monte Cristo in three words, what would they be?
Great reading of a fun revenge fantasy. It's definitely one of the most entertaining stories written in the 19ty century. And Lee's reading really brings it to lIfe. Audible should be giving this away from free as an introductory offer. Lee showcases what is unique and special about audio books.
