Story
The story begins in 1962. On a rocky patch of the sun-drenched Italian coastline, a young innkeeper, chest-deep in daydreams, looks out over the incandescent waters of the Ligurian Sea and spies an apparition: a tall, thin woman, a vision in white, approaching him on a boat. She is an actress, he soon learns, an American starlet, and she is dying. And the story begins again today, half a world away, when an elderly Italian man shows up on a movie studio's back lot - searching for the mysterious woman he last saw at his hotel decades earlier.

Depressing characters
Reviewed: 10-09-12
I'm not sure why this book had the great reviews -Marketing promotion I guess. I listened to the entire book- but found every character to be depressing. And the fact that I agreed with some of the characters thoughts - had me depressed with myself. The narrator was excellent, great variation between characters, clear and easy to understand.

Story
When Redwall was published in 1987 it catapulted author Brian Jacques to international stardom. And small wonder! This enthralling tale is jam-packed with the things we long for in a great adventure: danger, laughter, hairbreadth escapes, tragedy, mystery, a touch of wonder, a truly despicable villain, and a hero we can take to heart.

Story
On November 7, 1974, a young English nanny named Sandra Rivett was murdered in London's West End. Her employer, Lord Lucan, was named as her attacker. It was widely assumed he had mistaken her for his wife. Lord Lucan disappeared the night Sandra Rivett died and has not been seen since. Henry Kennedy lives on a mountain on the other side of the world. He is not who he says he is. Is he a murderer, or a man who can never clear his name? And is he the only one with something to hide?

I love Humphrey Bower as a narrator and as usual he made this story come alive. While it made me cry - I was facinated by the story.

I agree with some of the comments from previous reviewers that occassionally the Italian voices were difficult to hear or understand. But they were in character and it wasn't difficult to figure out what they were saying. The story was well written and kept me engaged throughout the story.

Story
A potential breakthrough discovery to reverse global warming, a series of unexplained sudden deaths in British Columbia, a rash of international incidents between the United States and one of its closest allies that threatens to erupt into an actual shooting war.... NUMA director Dirk Pitt and his children, Dirk. Jr. and Summer, have reason to believe there's a connection here somewhere, but they also know they have very little time to find it before events escalate out of control.

Good action but....
Reviewed: 01-26-11
The action was excellent, but obviously the Cusslers are proponents of Global Warming and too much time was taken up with their professorial instruction about GW. The book could have come to a satisfying end several times- but instead dragged on considerably to "preach" and then ended with the girl & the guy going off into the sunset. Ho hum.
