Story
Written in the form of letters from an experienced witch to her two apprentices, solitary witchcraft is offered, not as a substitute for coven worship, but as a fulfilling lifestyle in its own right. Rae Beth explains the importance of the Goddess and her consort, the Horned God, as sources of spiritual strength and worship. The author extols the feminine principles of healing and regeneration as well as attacking greed and self-interest which jeopardize the planet's very future.

the reader mispronounced Celtic...
Reviewed: 07-14-24
the audiobook reader mispronounced important words and this made it through production. She pronounced the word Celtic like the sports team which is NOT how you pronounce it when refering to the people or the languages. there were other issues with the reading but that was the straw that broke the camels back for me.

Story
Raised and trained by The Asylum Fight Club's most infamous owner, Reed Dane is almost untouchable. Might sound dope, but there are disadvantages to his "privileged" status. His guardian's reputation makes a serious relationship impossible—turns out the club's members are addicted to breathing—and the one man Reed wants sees him only as a stray his former lover brought home. An endless string of one-night stands lacks the intimacy Reed craves, but at least post-fight hookups distract him from what he'll never have. Until he takes a wrecking ball to the walls that set him apart.

the accents are pretty bad
Reviewed: 06-09-24
Story is decent but the accents utilized are...not the best to say the least. Some of them seem to be entierly decided on a assumeptions based off characters names, one named Dallas has a badly done Texan accent as an example. The voices for the under 18s are even worse, the 13 year old sounds like a toddler with a lisp.

Years after his brother Bobby had him committed to a psych ward, Adam is ready to come to grips with who he is, to live his life on his terms, to find love, and maybe even use his magic to do some good. Hoping to track down his missing father, Adam follows a trail of cursed artifacts to Denver, only to discover that an ancient and horrifying spirit has taken possession of Bobby’s wife.

my new favorite series
Reviewed: 04-15-24
if you are bigot this one isn't for you.
with that out of the way, this series has become a personal favorite i have listened to dozens of times. the plot hides little gems of information relevant in the later books and there are several mysteries that stretch through the current 3 books in the series, some have been resolved by the 3rd book others are plots in progress that i hope the next two books already in production deal with.
the characters are multi dimensional, with the good and the bad that comes with being human... even when those characters aren't. there are misunderstandings between family and complicated love of each other. these are not your cookie cutter heros and villains, there is complexity in their makeup. while there is a romance, there is no on screen sex. it's just not relevant to the plot where the emotional aspects take center stage.
the plot isn't any less complex than the characters with multiple plot lines tangled together that must be unraved before they can make sense and be resolved. threads reaching backward to the begining of the universe and reality and some tied to historical events in the US.
this is an intricately woven story with complex and very human characters that hate and love with passion.
forgiveness is not a given, some crimes are too great.

Story
Valentine Layton, the Duke of Malvern, has twin problems: literally. It was always his father’s hope that Valentine would marry Miss Arabella Tarleton. But, unfortunately, too many novels at an impressionable age have caused her to grow up...romantic. So romantic that a marriage of convenience will not do and after Valentine’s proposal she flees into the night determined never to set eyes on him again. Arabella’s twin brother, Mr. Bonaventure “Bonny” Tarleton, has also grown up...romantic. And fully expects Valentine to ride out after Arabella.

awful characters

the only sympathetic character is the Duke. everyone else is awful, the twins are deceitful and pretty abusive and blame everything on the Duke who never even wanted to do any of this.

Story
At a club in Missing Mile, N.C., the children of the night gather, dressed in black, look for acceptance. Among them are Ghost, who sees what others do not; Ann, longing for love; and Jason, whose real name is Nothing, newly awakened to an ancient, deathless truth about his father, and himself. Others are coming to Missing Mile tonight. Three beautiful, hip vagabonds - Molochai, Twig, and the seductive Zillah, whose eyes are as green as limes - are on their own lost journey, slaking their ancient thirst for blood, looking for supple young flesh.
