Not bad

I really enjoy Francine Rivers' books. I hadn't read this one in a long time!I I found the narrator distracting... she was NOT good. The story tho is pretty good! She tells a great story of redemption, grace, and serving the Lord humbly. It's not one of my favorites of hers but I'm glad I read it again.

Story
Chemist Elizabeth Zott is not your average woman. In fact, Elizabeth Zott would be the first to point out that there is no such thing as an average woman. But it’s the early 1960s and her all-male team at Hastings Research Institute takes a very unscientific view of equality. Except for one: Calvin Evans; the lonely, brilliant, Nobel–prize nominated grudge-holder who falls in love with—of all things—her mind. True chemistry results.

A smart, comic pause-resister about a Silicon Valley family in free fall over the course of one eventful summer from the author of Watch Me Disappear and Pretty Things. When Paul Miller’s pharmaceutical company goes public, making his family IPO millionaires, his wife, Janice, is sure this is the windfall she’s been waiting years for - until she learns, via messengered letter, that her husband is divorcing her (for her tennis partner!) and cutting her out of the new fortune.

good writing

This story was well written. I can appreciate that it's not "exciting" story. But she writes her characters so well, I think. I feel for each of them and I love that.

Great but too short
Reviewed: 12-11-20
It feels like a really great continuation to The Queen of Nothing but it's way too short! Wish it had been longer... But still great!

Good story bad reader

I like Francine Rivers, I've read all her books. I haven't read this one in years but listening to it was not the best idea... The reader's voice got under my skin the whole time! I'm cautious to listen to any more of her books now... The story is good tho! I just recommend reading it, not listening to it...
