Good story but narration detracts from overall enjoyment

I’m quite picky about the narration of every audio book I purchase. I stuck with this book despite not loving the narrator because the story compensated (and it’s not the worst narrator I’ve heard). The most annoying were Sloan and her daughter Chloe. Someone else who wrote a review said that the narration sounded like Moira Rose doing her voices—that made me chuckle though I personally didn’t find it that irksome. I will try other titles by this author—hopefully they will have better narrators.

Story
Julian Jessop, an eccentric, lonely artist and septuagenarian believes that most people aren’t really honest with each other. But what if they were? And so he writes—in a plain, green journal—the truth about his own life and leaves it in his local café. It’s run by the incredibly tidy and efficient Monica, who furtively adds her own entry and leaves the book in the wine bar across the street. Before long, the others who find the green notebook add the truths about their own deepest selves - and soon find each other In Real Life at Monica’s Café.

Narration leaves something to be desired

The story was interesting but the accents (particularly the Australian one) were not great. It detracted from the overall experience, but the book is still worth listening to if you can get beyond that.
