Story
New York Times tech reporter Kashmir Hill was skeptical when she got a tip about a mysterious app called Clearview AI that claimed it could, with 99 percent accuracy, identify anyone based on just one snapshot of their face. The app could supposedly scan a face and, in just seconds, surface every detail of a person’s online life: their name, social media profiles, friends and family members, home address, and photos that they might not have even known existed.

I have been reading articlesab this for years. When this book came out i had to get it. I took awhile to read it but it was very fascinating. Some of the stuff I heard about, others, I haven’t. Very interesting! Keep up the great work!

Story
Over the last decade, a single innovation has massively fueled digital black markets: cryptocurrency. Crime lords inhabiting lawless corners of the internet have operated more freely—whether in drug dealing, money laundering, or human trafficking—than their analog counterparts could have ever dreamed of. By transacting not in dollars or pounds but in currencies with anonymous ledgers, overseen by no government, beholden to no bankers, these black marketeers have sought to rob law enforcement of their chief method of cracking down on illicit finance: following the money.

I couldn't put this book down

I wish I could have read this all the way through. It was a great and interesting read on how some of the biggest stories that made podcasts like Security Now come true. Learning how the investigators got to their conclusions were quite interesting and the company behind it. I would recommend this book to anyone who might be interested in learning more about the cases that made the news. Part 4 was hard and I had to put it down, but understand why it was covered. You should read it, even if you don't want to. It opens your eyes on something I knew existed but didn't think but not surprised it would be in the underground.
