Excellent Narration
Reviewed: 04-26-24
So far, this is by far the best telling of, narration of, and best publication of any Led Zeppelin book that I have listened to or read. It is lengthy, but the narrator keeps the listener locked into the story and manages to keep his tempo and tone throughout the reading of this book. Would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in Led Zeppelin or a retelling of this band’s history from a fresh new and perspective. Will probably listen to it all over again! Well done!!

Story
With over 70 million records sold, Black Sabbath, dubbed by Rolling Stone “the Beatles of heavy metal,” helped create the genre itself, with their distinctive heavy riffs, tuned down guitars, and apocalyptic lyrics. Bassist and primary lyricist Geezer Butler played a gigantic part in the band’s renown, from suggesting the band name to using his fascination with horror, religion, and the occult to compose the lyrics and build the foundation of heavy metal as we know it. In Into the Void, Butler tells his side of the story.

Right to the point

Geezer tells his story in a straight out fashion that is very complimentary to his personality in his reading of his life’s work. It is cut and dry and direct to the point. He tells his point of view in the making of every album right up until they retire. Overall, I enjoyed listening to this book from a member of Black Sabbath that for all intents and purposes, seems to be a quiet and private individual of the band. If you are a Sabbath fan, it’s a good listen from a the author and would really recommend this book!

Thoroughly Enjoyed!

This book is easily my favorite book on Audible! Brian does an INCREDIBLE job of reading his own words. It is funny, sad, and everything in between. If you are an AC/DC fan, you know how protective they are about their privacy and about how well they protect their brand. Brian does not go very deep into the AC/DC catalog, just into his first album, Back in Black. However, it’s a great story from a very humble man and his humble beginnings. His story telling ability makes this book very hard to put down and wish it would continue far into his life and career just to have him keep reading and and telling his tale in his own voice and style. I hope Brian gets a chance to read some of his reviews and reads this. By that I mean I hope you write another book soon and continue to make more memories and tell us all about them. By the way, I’ve seen AC/DC play many times in LA CA!
Thank you Brian!

Great narration
Reviewed: 03-06-24
As a huge Rush fan I’m somewhat biased in my opinion of this book. However, this book was much more informative and interesting than I expected it to be. Rush has always appeared to me to be a private band that seemed to keep things in house and close to the chest. Geddy’s story and narration are funny and touching as he tells it. The telling of his life’s work is very honest, heartwarming and heart wrenching at times. Overall, one does not have to be a Rush fan in order to like or appreciate this book. It helps for perspective, but not required. I would recommend this to anyone who likes Rush or is curious to know something about the history of Geddy and his upbringing.
The two songs at the end of the book are a very nice touch to ending this book! Love it and will get a hard back copy just in case I happen to run into Geddy one day, and with a little bit of luck, get him to autograph it for me!
Thank you Geddy!!!

Story
In Everthing Is F*cked, Mark Manson turns his gaze from the inevitable flaws within each individual self to the endless calamities taking place in the world around us. Drawing from the pool of psychological research on these topics, as well as the timeless wisdom of philosophers such as Plato, Nietzsche, and Tom Waits, he dissects religion and politics and the uncomfortable ways they have come to resemble one another. He looks at our relationships with money, entertainment, and the internet, and how too much of a good thing can psychologically eat us alive.

The story was good, however, with a better narrator it would’ve been much, much better! Overall, I give this a low rating. Too bad the authors don’t realize to let someone much better qualified to read their work. The author did not do his work any justice by reading his own work. Recommend having a different narrator for a much better review!! Too bad…

Rock god. Justice fighter. Rabble-rouser. Ivy Leaguer. An American renegade and fearless truth teller. Rage Against the Machine’s guitar virtuoso, Tom Morello, is many things; but perhaps, he himself, sums it up best: a one-man revolution. For the first time ever, hear Morello fuse the deeply personal with the political in a rapturous, badass, one-man show that skillfully balances soul-bearing stories with spellbinding guitar fury: Speaking Truth to Power Through Stories and Song by Tom Morello.

In 2009, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band performed at the Super Bowl's halftime show. The experience was so exhilarating that Bruce decided to write about it. That's how this extraordinary autobiography began. Over the past seven years, Bruce Springsteen has privately devoted himself to writing the story of his life, bringing to this audio the same honesty, humor, and originality found in his songs.

The history of heavy metal brings us extraordinary stories of larger-than-life characters living to excess, from the household names of Ozzy Osbourne, Lemmy, Iron Maiden and Metallica to the brutal notoriety of the underground Norwegian black metal scene and the New Wave of British heavy metal. It is the story of a worldwide network of rabid fans escaping everyday mundanity through music, of cutthroat corporate arseholes ripping off those fans and the bands they worship to line their pockets.

Patrol Sergeant Truman Simons, who had been called to the scene that night, saw the carnage firsthand - and vowed to find the ferocious killer or killers. He soon became a man with a mission, risking his career and his family's safety in search of evidence.
