Story
In the year 2045, reality is an ugly place. The only time Wade Watts really feels alive is when he’s jacked into the OASIS, a vast virtual world where most of humanity spends their days. When the eccentric creator of the OASIS dies, he leaves behind a series of fiendish puzzles, based on his obsession with the pop culture of decades past. Whoever is first to solve them will inherit his vast fortune—and control of the OASIS itself.

Great book

It was a great book, I just wish it had spent just a tad bit longer on what was going on in the real world. Narrator did a great job with bringing you into the story. Pick up the book, unless you hate the 80s, then stay away from it as it has a ton of references to that era.

Story
Is this what's in store? June 12, 2030, started out like any other day in memory---and by then, memories were long. Since cancer had been cured fifteen years before, America's population was aging rapidly. That sounds like good news, but consider this: millions of baby boomers, with a big natural predator picked off, were sucking dry benefits and resources that were never meant to hold them into their eighties and beyond.

A strange story, and possibly some validity to it.

Great book only OK ending

I loved the book it really felt like you were listening to the near future from the perspective of different socioeconomic characters. The ending felt rushed though, bringing the rating down by a star but still an amazing listen.
