Story
What makes “cults” so intriguing and frightening? What makes them powerful? The reason why so many of us binge Manson documentaries by the dozen and fall down rabbit holes researching suburban moms gone QAnon is because we’re looking for a satisfying explanation for what causes people to join - and more importantly, stay in - extreme groups. We secretly want to know: could it happen to me? Amanda Montell’s argument is that, on some level, it already has.

Felt like I was listening to a college paper from California
Reviewed: 11-13-24
overall I think the book was ok like a 3.8 for me. I liked the info in it, the stories were ok, and felt like it was organized pretty good. for me aspects of the book I didn't like was after a while she the way she talks about things made me feel like I'm listening to a college kids paper and the way she talks about certain things made my think the author was from California and then later they said they are from California lol. also the way she talks about Trump and capitalism sounded like it's all bad so that didn't really twist my titties since I feel like there is alot of pros to those two subjects.
would I recommend it? mmm depends on the person lol

Story
Come inside a jury room as one juror leads a starkly divided room to consensus. Join a young CIA officer as he recruits a reluctant foreign agent. And sit with an accomplished surgeon as he tries, and fails, to convince yet another cancer patient to opt for the less risky course of treatment. In Supercommunicators, Charles Duhigg blends deep research and his trademark storytelling skills to show how we can all learn to identify and leverage the hidden layers that lurk beneath every conversation.

Story
How did Fidel Castro fool the CIA for a generation? Why did Neville Chamberlain think he could trust Adolf Hitler? Why are campus sexual assaults on the rise? Do television sitcoms teach us something about the way we relate to each other that isn't true? While tackling these questions, Malcolm Gladwell was not solely writing a book for the page. He was also producing for the ear. In the audiobook version of Talking to Strangers, you’ll hear the voices of people he interviewed - scientists, criminologists, military psychologists.

stories were good but wasnt what i expected
Reviewed: 06-05-24
I was expecting for the book to tell us HOW TO talk to strangers not just the way people perceive each other at times. book also felt like i was in a class room at times which for me made it pretty boring at times. Most of the stories were good explaining the different things. overall book was ok.... but not good enough for me to keep so i returned it.

Story
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

I don't really know this guy
Reviewed: 11-01-23
I don't really know this guy, I've heard his name of course but I rarely ever watch movies or TV shows. mainly just YouTube. so this is my perspective of the book.
its alright. I feel it's over hyped. It was suggested and I seen the reviews so I got it! I was expecting something that was going to be alot more motivating, like David goggins book.
things I liked:
- his enthusiasm and character while reading
- some funny moments
- his openness
things I didn't like (because I was expecting this to be different type of book)
- felt like random stores the drunk guy at the bar would be telling me and would keep going 🙃 😅
would I recommend this book. prob not. Unless you're a fan is his then it'll prob twist your tits

Story
For Nipsey Hussle, “The Marathon” was more than a mixtape title or the name of a clothing store; it was a way of life, a metaphor for the relentless pursuit of excellence and the willpower required to overcome adversity day after day. Hussle was determined to win the race to success on his own terms, and he wanted to see his whole community in the winner’s circle with him.

Pretty good but not engaging enough for me
Reviewed: 08-17-21
The book and story were overall pretty cool about what he did but it wasn't really written in a way that was catching my attention. After a couple chapters I was just not that captivated by it and ended up not finishing the last 3 hours. I personally liked gucci's book better.
