Creative writing is any writing that goes beyond the boundaries of ordinary formal, journalistic, scholarly, or technological types of literature, usually characterized by the emphasis on narrative art, character development, and the use of literary conventions, or the different traditions of prose and poetry. Due to the lack of definition, writing such as feature stories can be considered as creative writing, even though they fall under journalism, because the content of the features focuses specifically on narrative and character development.
