Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Ron has a deeply creative way of digging core issues out of the maelstrom. I'm regularly impressed by his passion and insight. He views marketing as a window into the human condition. He is right.

In the year 2045, reality is an ugly place. The only time Wade Watts really feels alive is when he’s jacked into the OASIS, a vast virtual world where most of humanity spends their days. When the eccentric creator of the OASIS dies, he leaves behind a series of fiendish puzzles, based on his obsession with the pop culture of decades past. Whoever is first to solve them will inherit his vast fortune—and control of the OASIS itself.

I freaking loved this book
I am a total snob for 80s pop culture, so this was even better for me. I would say my favorite moment, but if you haven't read it yet, you should. I don't have very fond thought of Wil Wheaton, but he did a good job of reading this.

Story
Meet Ove. He's a curmudgeon - the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him "the bitter neighbor from hell". But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness.

Story
Melanie is a very special girl. Dr. Caldwell calls her "our little genius". Every morning, Melanie waits in her cell to be collected for class. When they come for her, Sergeant keeps his gun pointing at her while two of his people strap her into the wheelchair. She thinks they don't like her. She jokes that she won't bite, but they don't laugh. Melanie loves school. She loves learning about spelling and sums and the world outside the classroom and the children's cells. She tells her favorite teacher all the things she'll do when she grows up.

I loved this book! I didn't want to stop listening as soon as I started! The narrator is perfect for the story. Her English accent takes you fully into the story as it is set in and near London. I appreciated her superb ability to find a distinctive voice for each character. I never found myself asking, "Which character is speaking now?"
As far as the story itself? This story line is one of the best of its kind. I want to say so much more but want every listener to be just as speechless and moved as I was at the end. What a brilliant and well written story. I highly recommend it!
