Great book and only slightly me annoying sound effects
Reviewed: 01-15-25
This book did not need sound effects. Luckily it was only In a few parts but I think we all have imaginations and didn’t need a phone or church bells. Other than that it was fantastic

Iris and Gabriel want to be supportive of their friends, but as Laure's mood becomes increasingly unpredictable, her presence takes its toll.

More political than I’d like

I love this series. I liked this story… my big complaint is I read to escape and for the last 3 years all we’ve heard about is corona. So to pick up a book and have it shoved down my throat along with other current events was annoying. I’ve been trying to see if it added to the storyline. It didn’t. It could’ve been left out and this book would have been a million times better albeit 4 hours shorter. If SK keeps this up with other books, I’ll have to quit reading him which would be a shame

Story
On the morning of April 29, 1986, a fire alarm sounded in the Los Angeles Public Library. As the moments passed, the patrons and staff who had cleared out of the building realized this was not the usual false alarm. As one fireman recounted later, “Once that first stack got going, it was good-bye, Charlie.” The fire was disastrous: It reached 2,000 degrees and burned for more than seven hours. By the time it was extinguished, it had consumed 400,000 books and damaged 700,000 more.
