Fascinating Classical Ballet Era Beautifully Expressed

Author, John Clifford in his own beautifully expressive voice, recounts his personal relationship with Ballet Master, George Balanchine. He shares with us behind the scenes anecdotes that make us feel as if we were there. Clifford describes, sometimes in great detail, the ballets he danced in, choreographed and the ballets that were choreographed by Balanchine himself. We get a birds eye view of what it was like to work with dancers, Suzanne Farrell, Gelsey Kirkland, Jacques d’Amboise, Mikail Baryshnikov, Melissa Hayden and so many more. I loved being there with John Clifford, Balanchine’s Apprentice.

Demi painted a true picture of her relationship with her mother, drugs, alcohol, relationships and how she found the strength to overcome seemingly impossible obstacles but found peace and happiness in her life. Much to be admired. Very well written and spoken.

Being able to adjust speed is great. Normal speech, then slow down the back to normal. Very easy and helpful.

Articulate, wonderful vocabulary! A look at the inner world of black people, their struggles and overcoming obstacles by believing in yourself. On the down side, Farrakhan is known for his anti semitism. I wish Charlemagne would have addressed this issue. I also think that calling 80% of white people “devils” is not helpful in promoting love as he professes to preach. I’m white and a Jewish convert. I can also say that my belief in a God is somewhat weakened by what happened in slavery and the Holocaust among many other events. So, no I’m not a believer and have reached the top of my game as an internationally recognized voice teacher.

I loved the various voices of the characters Tony so brilliantly used throughout to convey the presence of each moment. What an extraordinary relationship he had with this fascinating woman. I had the great pleasure of being invited by her brother into the Connecticut home when as an actress in the summer touring company of The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, he invited us to a barbecue at the home followed by a tour of the home. I got to experience her bedroom and couldn’t believe I was actually standing right there. A few years later, aster a visit to my doctor for physical therapy on fifth Avenue in New York City, I found myself in the elevator with Kate and told her of my experience at her home. She answered with a witty and quite philosophical remark. To this day, I remember that afternoon in elevator with the great Katherine Hepburn. Thank you Tony, for your wonderful narration. I hung in every word.

I liked the narrator very much except for the countless incorrectly pronounced Kandinski without the first “n” Kadinski.
