I really really REALLY enjoyed the story! Word choice was awesome, had to look some words up and feel just a tad smarter because of it :p. The detail in the city and the characters was awesome, so much so that I would love to see some artistic renditions of the different races and characters. The idea of this mix of fantacy and technology in a way that binds them together feels great, without being too foreign. Having the patrons be familiar with mythology of civilization pasts, while also taking place in a separate universe/dimension was easy to follow. It took me a little bit to get an understanding of the class system that they have and the terminologies used. Also the character development along the story felt satisfying. I would be interested in learning how these patrons influence the citizens of the cities they are over, as well as how these cities exist and play together in this universe. Now that Katie and Victor what is the next trial that they must overcome? Does Katie eventually take to being the Lady of Jericho? How do all these relationships continue to grow? I need answers!!! lol The author really made the book feel like a well lived in city and crafted it carefully. Please keep the series going :). Maybe you will even inspire some cosplays at a con!

Miss Jill Ramlow also did a great job. I only was able to listen, and not read, while working and driving. Her pacing was smooth and didn't feel rushed or sluggish. Tone seemed to match the feelings of the characters well and there were some times where she seemed to to get into the story and sort of play Katie, not just read Katie's line, but take one the role of Katie. I know I do this in my own mind when reading a book and I get attached to a character and it was cool to see someone else do that too. It would have been even better if she had leaned into that a little harder, to actually sigh, laugh, yawn, drowsily speak to, and such. I also like that she seemed entertained by the story itself!

Overall, if you enjoy fantasy theme, a little romance, mythology, murder mysteries, it's worth the credit.
