So very tedious

I really loved the first book. Cozy themes, a bit of mystery, beautiful character development and lovely storytelling. Great narration. This narrator has a beautiful voice her performances are wonderful.


I didn’t like the second book as much, but plowed through. I enjoyed the general direction of the plot, and the struggles between main characters. I didn’t like how very long it took for the main character to say absolutely everything. The formality of her speech is part of who she is, but in a cozy light romance novel, the length of inner monologues and outward speeches were tedious.

The third book was even worse. Very little additional character development. More and more tedious and rambling inner monologues of Miyara, LOTS of politics, some of it quite ridiculous and out of place. More and more ridiculously formal soapbox speeches from our Tea Princess.

It was really hard to finish listening to this book. I found my mind wandering as Miyara said SO VERY MUCH without saying much at all.

My biggest complaint in this series is the lack of detailed description of the mysterious tea ceremony. You would think after 3 books that we would have a clear understanding of the workings of this sacred ritual. Mayra opens up her tea kit and her baby dragon heats the water. Then the author skips ahead to the end and you have no idea what the tea ceremony actually looks like.

Replacing some of Miyara’s monotonous rambling with some descriptions of this ritual, please.
