Story
When Elon Musk was a kid in South Africa, he was regularly beaten by bullies. One day a group pushed him down some concrete steps and kicked him until his face was a swollen ball of flesh. He was in the hospital for a week. But the physical scars were minor compared to the emotional ones inflicted by his father, an engineer, rogue, and charismatic fantasist.

Good look into the mind and lifestyle of the man I admire
Reviewed: 10-23-23
Thanks to Walter Isaacson I really enjoyed listening to this book because he captures the man behind the wonderful innovations this world is now enjoying. From electric cars, rockets, satellite internet, space exploration, and social media. I enjoyed having a behind the scene type look into how the icon Elon Musk is on a daily basis. The human side of this powerful man.

Good but not good
Reviewed: 10-12-18
The story of astronaut Scott Parazynski is very awe aspiring. The common tale of an audacious risk-taker who goes to his lengths to achieve his goals. But the way he presented his story didn't seem like there was any struggle or many hardships. It's a book that displays how great he was and you can do anything when you put your mind to it. I believe if his story was told and presented differently I would have liked it. Astronaut, Scott Parazynski is a man to admire and praise, but I wish his book accessed his plans and thoughts on how he was able to achieve what he did.
It's amazing how he went to medical school, then became an astronaut, from where he became one of few to ascent Mt. Everest.
There were many times he would use metaphors and slang that I didn't understand or think was that really necessary to include.
Great man, awesome title for a book, but not good writing.

Story
Colonel Chris Hadfield has spent decades training as an astronaut and has logged nearly 4000 hours in space. During this time he has broken into a Space Station with a Swiss army knife, disposed of a live snake while piloting a plane, and been temporarily blinded while clinging to the exterior of an orbiting spacecraft. The secret to Col. Hadfield's success - and survival - is an unconventional philosophy he learned at NASA: prepare for the worst and enjoy every moment of it.

This is one of the best memoirs and life guidance book I’ve ever read. I recommend this book to whomever loves to challenge themselves and to find that their significance to life is to make humanity great.
