The best dystopian series ever!
Reviewed: 10-26-20
I loved this book- which really surprised me to be honest, because I usually am not kept interested by most books of the Dystopian genre. Maia Greystone, and Riser together assume new identities to try and take down the Emperor. The narrator does a great job individualizing each character and I was enthralled to the last word. I immediately downloaded the entire series and finished it in days. I recommend this book to anyone- even if you think Dystopian isn’t your thing!!

I LOVE THIS AUDIOBOOK!!

This book had me on the edge of my seat- and frustrated I had to pause it off and on to “Adult”. All I wanted was time off from work and for my responsibilities to hold off for a day just to take it all in. Gotta love being an “Essential”! Even with being interrupted constantly I was easily able to follow the story line, and the narrator does such an amazing job of voicing the individual characters that I fell right back into where I left off. This series is definitely in my list of Top Favorites Ever- and I highly recommend it to anyone who who loves the genre of magic and destiny!

Great Second Installment!

Can I say cliffhanger?? I loved every second of listening to this book. The narrator is one of my favorites, and even with having to stop, restart, and pause constantly between the needs of my family and job, I could always tell exactly who was talking as she does such an amazing job at voicing each individual character. The plot thickens as the story progresses and Timberlyn and Alarick’s relationship is tested further. The darkness is brought to light in Mr. Wolf’s obsession with creating female wolves, and it ended in such a cliffhanger I immediately had to get the next in series and read on. I recommend this audiobook to anyone- it’s an entertaining, delightful listen that was over before I knew it!

Great Teen Romance!
Reviewed: 01-19-20
I really enjoyed this book- and the narrator did a great job with expression. So good in fact, sometimes I found myself rolling my eyes at the FMC’s though processes and words. Piper is such a teenager- which is exactly what she is supposed to be. She reminds me of my own daughter and her emotional immaturity. The author really nailed the teen angst and romance and I look forward to see how Piper grows in the next books. And Zane... I don’t know what teen girl wouldn’t fall for the gorgeous, broody, accented guy! I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good YA story!

Story
All Timberlyn wants is to get out of her small town, where she's branded a freak just because she happens to wear all black and draw gruesome monsters in her notebooks. When a letter arrives saying she's been accepted to the mysterious Ravenwood Academy for the exceptionally Gifted, she jumps at the chance. There's only one problem with Ravenwood: it's run by Alarick Wolf and his brothers, three surly, thuggish, insanely gorgeous guys. Timberlyn's new friends give strict instructions to stay far away from them. Unfortunately, she's not good at taking orders.

I really enjoyed this as a YA book. The narrator has such a great way of making the characters come to life- and you never have to try and decide who is talking because she does each voice so well. It was a quick listen and I immediately bought the next book in series to find out what happened next!

After two weeks of searching, I found the seven-year-old I'd been hired to find too late. His body broken and discarded. Dead. My boss doesn't want me to hunt down his killers. It's too dangerous. But the Pacific Northwest Pack steps in, hiring me to bring the bastards to justice. Turns out the kid was half shifter. And shifters don't abandon their own. In a search that takes me through the maze of shifter hierarchy and the depths of the paranormal underworld, these killers underestimate how determined I am to mete out their punishment.

I really enjoyed this book- both the narrator and the story line. She does a great job with the voices of different characters- the only thing I noticed were some differences in sound volume/quality- I could tell where reading stopped and picked up again sometimes, especially between chapters. This story kept me interested and hungry for more- as soon as it finished I downloaded the next in series!

Story
I’m Sorcha McMurphy. I thought magic didn’t exist until I found a stolen dragon hatchling and got a letter of acceptance to a supernatural school for dragon riders. I’m literally flown away to a college that teaches sword fighting, magic casting, and general ass-kicking. Here, the dragon clans are at war, and there’s an evil that threatens to destroy the riders forever. They think I’m the chosen one destined to save the clans, but I’m no hero. If only I could stop myself from loving the cursed guy in my dragon keeping class long enough to save the world.

I would love to give this audio book 5 stars straight across- but I just can’t. I did love the story and the characters- the narrator had great voices for each one- but the main character’s voice tended to change. I loved her enthusiasm- but sometimes it was just.. too much. It didn’t match the situation. I found several errors- repeated sentences and at times I could definitely tell where she cut off recording and started again. But overall I really did like this book. The author built a great world and plot line- and characters and dragons that stand out in their own personalities. Sorcha- pulled form the human world with no memory of her past fated to save the entire magical race. Falling for Oliver, the boy from the wrong clan she can never have.. With more practice and editing- I see this narrator becoming really great!

Story
The one thing about growing up an orphan was that life sucked, but at least it was my kind of sucky. It was simple, ordinary, predictable. Until the night I woke up naked in a dark forest, surrounded by a trio of powerful shifters who plucked me from my miserable existence to tell me I'm some sort of supernatural monster. Now I'm taking a crash course in Werewolf 101 at some freaky, secret academy. Not to mention I can't get my mind off an infuriating, yet gorgeous (and off-limits) lion shifter who loves yoga and calling me "poodle".

Enjoyable Listen!

I really enjoyed this book, it was a short listen at 5.5 hours (compared to 12+ hours of other audible books) and went quickly. The narrator does a great job, she's very pleasant to listen to and her enthusiasm really lends to the main character, Remy's, likeability. There is action, drama, suspense and of course the angsty love of college kids. There was quite the plot twist at the end that I really didn't see coming, and that rarely happens. The story kept me interested the entire time, and I'm ready for book 2!

Very Unique Story!
Reviewed: 11-07-19
This book has a very unique story line, in all the many books I have read, I have never come across anything similar. I really liked the blending of modern hacking and magic set in the future- in a world very different from our own, yet close enough to be a very plausible possibility. The narrator did good job voicing the multiple accents of the many characters, though at times I would find it hard to figure out who exactly was speaking when multiple characters were together. There were so many questions this story touched on answering, but by the end I still felt like many of them were unexplained. It ended rather suddenly – right when I thought I was about ready to get some real answers! All in all an enjoyable listen.

Story
She's the fire fae of legend. He's the warlock heir to the throne of winter. Maybrie Hawkins is the badass who dominates the Dark Court’s fight pits where fae and shifters battle for powers. The royals chant her name, like she's a goddess instead of a lowly entertainer. Like all Casters, Kai needs the shared powers of a fae to do more than basic magic on his own. The strongest bonds are forged via love, and it's time for him to find a match. His sights are set on her. She's not impressed.

I loved the premise of this audiobook's story. I did find it hard to follow as a listener only without reading the book first. The narrator's voice wasn't my favorite, her tone/inflection bordered on sounding bored to me. Once I sped up the rate it was a bit better, but there wasn't much difference between the character's tones that I noticed and I found myself frequently getting lost if I was distracted momentarily. I was continually rewinding the story and several times when my kids/husband were around I would have to just stop listening completely because I couldn't pick up from where I left off. I did love the characters and their progression and growth. I do wish there would have been more backstory explained. It seemed like this was set on a post-apocalyptic Earth - but why was there more than one moon? Just a lot of questions that never got answered. I did enjoy the story enough to buy the next book and read it, but I probably will not get the audio version when it comes out unless it is narrated differently.
