Story
Moments after Lisbeth is born, she’s taken from her mother and handed over to an enslaved wet nurse, Mattie, a young mother separated from her own infant son in order to care for her tiny charge. Thus begins an intense relationship that will shape both of their lives for decades to come. Though Lisbeth leads a life of privilege, she finds nothing but loneliness in the company of her overwhelmed mother and her distant, slave-owning father.

This is a lovely story of the triumph of beauty and hope amidst ugliness just as the first crocus is to a long grey winter. What a heartwarming story.

Gripping... The African version of the dragon tattoo series

I had heard that there were comparisons between the brutality of lisbeth salander and the heroine of this book but I actually think that Vanessa Michael Monroe is far more dangerous, controlled, sane.

Compelling testimony of life in the White House

Very interesting book about running the White House as told by the former head usher who served under the Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, lbj, and Nixon administrations with special focus on the First Ladies.
