Good story

Good story, wished I had finished the first book before I listened to this one.
The narrator did very well on the different characters. But when she was just narrating she seems choppy and it was distracting. When she was voicing the characters, it smoothed out. Overall good read.

Story
I've had to move out of the city and into the house I inherited here, in the idyllic fishing village of Porthcove, but only for as long as it takes to sell it. You see, I need the money, so I've started seeing some of the locals, you know, as patients, but I tell you, there's something really disturbing about charming neighbors sharing chilling secrets. And it isn't just that. It's the other things. Strange, inexplicable things. It started with odd smells, creepy sounds, and then the intruders...oh God, the intruders.

Not what I expected
Reviewed: 04-22-21
I listened to the second book of the series first, not realizing it was not a stand alone book. I was excited to listen to the first because I really enjoyed “Haunted”. However, it became quickly apparent that this book, Psychosis, had content that was sexually graphic. It was unnecessary to carry the story and I found it quite offensive. I did not finish the book. Also, the narrator was wooden, and did not enhance the story like the narrator for Haunted.

I listened to the sample before buying and seemed like an interesting book. Was not prepared for the level of graphic gore, foul language and overall "nastiness" of the story. And that was within the first few minutes! Not my cup of tea, but someone else may like it, just not me.

Excellent story! Well written, well read. Narrator was just a tad mechanical, but still good listening. Gave food for thought about my own Christian walk and how we treat "outsiders". Highly recommend!

Story
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.
