Story
For David Goggins, childhood was a nightmare--poverty, prejudice, and physical abuse colored his days and haunted his nights. But through self-discipline, mental toughness, and hard work, Goggins transformed himself from a depressed, overweight young man with no future into a US Armed Forces icon and one of the world's top endurance athletes. The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force tactical air controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events.

Not what I thought

With the advocated negative self talk and perhaps pushing for extremes, I get the feel this is perpetuating the drama triangle (google karpmam drama triangle).
Personally I respond better to the voice of reason, and rarely, compassionate talk. I know that negative self talk may sometimes give me a jolt into action but over time I end up in self defeating cycles as my ego now wants to prove to me that I am that lowly person that I say I am. I am also not going into the navy or training for extreme sports, so if I adopt an aggressive demeanor I may scare off or intimidate other people including those that could help me reach my goals or bring new perspectives to issues I would otherwise not see for years.
I hoped I would see messages or tips on how to adopt the Empowerment triangle. (Google TED empowerment dynamic).

Story
memoir of a brief career as a top model - and a brutally honest account of what goes on behind the scenes in a fascinating closed industry. Scouted in the street when she was 17, Victoire Dauxerre's story started like a teenager's dream: within months she was on the catwalks of New York's major fashion shows and part of the most select circle of in-demand supermodels in the world.

Every young girl I know hates to be a model, but no one knew how much it took to be there. After hearing this book I am certain I don’t want to follow that route.
Thank you victoire for sharing this story, and helping to warn other girls.
