Story
Southern witch Dylan Apel's to-do list is stacked high—decide whether or not to marry her boyfriend, try to stay sane amidst her crazy family's antics, and make a quickie dress for a shotgun wedding. The easiest of those is making the dress—or at least it's supposed to be. But when one of the bridesmaids confesses that she's a witch, Dylan is immediately suspicious. Witches aren't supposed to talk about their powers—every true witch knows that. Yet things turn lethal when that bridesmaid winds up dead—and the evidence points to Dylan!

Big shoes to fill, but new narrator does a good job!
Reviewed: 07-12-24
So, I’ve read the negative ratings and while yes, I really dislike it when an author switches up the narrator in the middle of a series, this book certainly does not deserve a one star!
This is a different narrator, so it’s going to sound different, but she did a good job with the voices. There were a few times that she sounded just like the previous narrator. She gets even better with book 7.
Bottom line is the story is great and once you get past the fact that it’s a new narrator, it’s just as enjoyable as the other 5 books. Definitely recommend and would recommend book 7 as well!

Story
Dylan Apel just wants to run her dress-design shop, spend time with sexy witch detective Roman Bane, and do her best to keep her crazy family out of trouble. But when the new witch queen is murdered, Dylan is chosen to take her place as interim queen of the South! Shouldn't be a problem for a strong witch, right? But stricken with guilt after an unfortunate accident, Dylan's been neglecting her studies. Now she must help find a fiendishly clever murderer before someone else dies.

Story
A wish is the strongest form of magic. It's also the most dangerous. For psychic Charlie Payne being haunted is an everyday experience. When Charlie agrees to help her cousin forage for furniture at an auction she expects to steer her cousin clear of any lingering spirits. But a child's wish makes that impossible. When her cousin brings home an object with a ghost-child attached to it, Charlie finds herself drawn into a 60-year-old mystery. Her instinct is to help the child move toward the light.

Good book but terrible narrator
Reviewed: 09-23-23
I’m so disappointed. The narrator is so annoying. Her voice for Charlie and the male characters are fine. BUT…. Jen, Lisa, Daphne, 13 yo Evan and 6 yo Ruby all sound like they should be part of Alvin and the Chipmunks. They literally all sound the same - ridiculously high voice for grown women. You can’t tell the difference between 6 yo Ruby and Lisa - a professional female attorney. This narrator does not do the book justice. I’d be interested in going forward with the other books in the series but I couldn’t possibly listen to any more baby talking characters. I’d rather listen to nails on a chalkboard.
I suggest reading the books yourself as the stories are great and the author is very talented.

Story
Evil comes in many forms. Not all of them are human. They call her the Blue Lady, the harbinger of storms and destruction. For psychic Charlie Payne, is the appearance of the ghost of the Blue Lady signaling just a hurricane? Or devastation from beyond? When Charlie is asked to use her considerable talents to help Deputy Jason Tate with a series of murders, she sees the face of the real assassin in a dream.

Not a fan of the new narrator

Love the story, but the narrator is distracting. All the female characters sound like children and they sound too “sugary” for who the characters are supposed to be. The male voices are ok… I’ll listen to the next one, but am done if there are any more in this series with this narrator.
