Story
Bono met his wife in high school, Park says. So did Jerry Lee Lewis, Eleanor answers. I’m not kidding, he says. You should be, she says, we’re 16. What about Romeo and Juliet? Shallow, confused, then dead. I love you, Park says. Wherefore art thou, Eleanor answers. I’m not kidding, he says. You should be. Set over the course of one school year in 1986, this is the story of two star-crossed misfits - smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try. When Eleanor meets Park, you’ll remember your own first love.

A Love Story of the Ages
Reviewed: 10-12-13
What did you love best about Eleanor & Park?
This book is a story of young love in its unlikely beginnings. Despite the age of the characters in the book, the story is timeless. If you have forgotten the dewy eyed beauty of your first kiss, your first touch or even your first love, this story will be a stroll down memory lane. The characters are imperfectly perfect for each other. There is depth and richness in the story which examines the social boundaries and prejudices found in the cafeteria and on the bus at every high school in America. The narrators provide a richness to the experience that has exquisite moments of tenderness paired with the sarcasm and wit of youth. I highly recommend this book!

Story
has been more than 60 years since Elaine Greenstein’s twin sister, Barbara, ran away, cutting off contact with her family forever. Elaine has made peace with that loss. But while sifting through old papers as she prepares to move to Rancho Mañana - or the 'Ranch of No Tomorrow' as she refers to the retirement community - she is stunned to find a possible hint to Barbara’s whereabouts all these years later. And it pushes her to confront the fierce love and bitter rivalry of their youth.

The Tin Horse redefines black sheep of the family

Would you listen to The Tin Horse again? Why?
This story was compelling albeit lengthy look at family life during the 1930s. It captures a story about a secular Jewish family living at the time of WWII. The story is told from the perspective of twin daughters in the family and the unlikely paths that lead them apart and together again. The author provides a detailed description of family life at its best and at worst. The complexity of the characters provide an interesting forefront to the wars, gender politics, and racism occurring at this point in world history. I would definitely recommend this read!
