Story
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Rich Action, Poor Romance

wooden love interest forced into the story as a lever for climatic drama in later chapters. Stalled an otherwise captivating plot. if you've ever seen "inside out" where they show a mass produced imaginary boyfriend that only repeats "I would die for Riley". that's what I kept picturing the love interest being like.

Side Notes
Reviewed: 10-01-22
Longest grocery list I've ever listened to. I know authors must set up events or close gaps but this book was a singular effort to do so. Not really a novella in itself. Just a reading of Mr. Mancours notes on what I'm guessing were for his next book. Not worth the money.

Story
The world teeters on the brink of destruction. The people who should be saving the Earth ignore Jason Asano's warnings and choose to loot the house as it burns down around them. He lacks the strength to save the world himself, but resolves to do it anyway, impossible be damned. The impossible, in this case, means seizing a power that no mortal should touch. It's a choice from which there is no turning back, and marks Jason's first step into a wider cosmos that he is not yet ready to face. Holding the fate of two worlds in his hands, Jason must decide for himself what home truly means.

A surprising amount gets accomplished in this shortish installment. I'm eagerly awaiting Jason's next evolution.

WOOOOO
Reviewed: 03-12-22
It's incredible to see the evolution of the character and the writer happen at the same time. Both refining their crafts. Something very Meta about that.
I took 1 star away from the so far excellent performance of the narrator for missing the iconic WOOOOO! You had a golden opportunity Mr. Miller and you squandered it.

Pete and Repeat
Reviewed: 03-09-22
I love the overall story arc. However, the repeated detail of each power and ability every time it's used takes me out of the story. It loses the timing, be it action, suspense or revelation. The characters and plot are great. Just stop reading us the DMs guide book in the middle of what is happening.

Story
Seth Andersen, a UX designer, was driving home from a bad day at work when his world changed, literally. Seth is instantly transferred to the world of Morgenheim, where knights in shining armor and magic are normal, and citizens must actually “level up” to get stronger. Seth is given the chance to choose a boon from a list of incredible super powers, but accidentally chooses seemingly the most useless power in the list.

Needs Character Development.
Reviewed: 01-22-21
It's easy to see the story lines the author is trying to explore. However he fails to build up any foundation for more than just the main arc. If he were to spend more effort on character development, and treat them less like a D&D spreadsheet he could really have something here.
The narrator should also develope more voice diversity. All of the female dialogue sounds the same, and the male voices only have 4 options.
