Not worthy of audible. You can do better than this. Very poor. Do not buy.

Story
The 25 years between the onset of the French Revolution in 1789 and the Bourbon Restoration after Napoleon in 1814 is an astonishing period in world history. This era shook the foundations of the old world and marked a permanent shift for politics, religion, and society - not just for France, but for all of Europe. An account of the events alone reads like something out of a thrilling novel.

Wish I could've given this course 6 stars

Dreadful lecturer
Reviewed: 01-19-18
Would you try another book from The Great Courses and/or Professor Suzanne M. Desan?
Never
What do you think your next listen will be?
unknown
How could the performance have been better?
Don't read lectures or closely follow the wording of an outline. Very stiff, mechanical delivery. Attempts at humour or witticism fell dead-born. Very awkward phrasing, such as "the fancy people of Paris" or "the fixed-up city of the counterrevolutionaries." Rhythm and timing always felt awkward. Very inelegant, cumbersome delivery. Even Trump is more fluid.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Living the French Revolution and the Age of Napoleon?
The lecturer.
Any additional comments?
I should have returned this set of lectures. After listening to 48 lectures from Prof Desan I am ready for a long night of heaving drinking.
