While Lasgol and his comrades carry out their duties as Rangers, a shadowy danger gathers strength in the Frozen Territories and threatens the kingdom. Thoran sends his Ice Magi and his armies to fight against it. The Snow Panthers are summoned to carry out a risky and complicated mission to obtain an object of power that will help destroy the evil that is on its way across the northern mountains to the capital. This is not the only danger our friends will have to face, since the Dark Rangers and the Zangrians continue to pose an ever-present threat, both to the realm and the Panthers.

enjoyable series all-in-one with great voice!

It is very easy to become invested int he main character, Soren and watch him grow. I would love to see another series with him in it but will definitely check out The Wolf of the North series. I hope the new series narrator is as good as Perkins is with grabbing and maintaining the listener's interest.

Story
Logen Ninefingers, infamous barbarian, has finally run out of luck. Caught in one feud too many, he's on the verge of becoming a dead barbarian - leaving nothing behind him but bad songs, dead friends, and a lot of happy enemies. Nobleman, dashing officer, and paragon of selfishness, Captain Jezal dan Luthar has nothing more dangerous in mind than fleecing his friends at cards and dreaming of glory in the fencing circle. But war is brewing, and on the battlefields of the frozen North they fight by altogether bloodier rules.

My first audible book and I was not disappointed
Reviewed: 05-21-18
I have always enjoyed ready fantasy but have less time than I used to to sit down and read a book so I decided to try audible books I could read during my commute and I was not disappointed! The characters are well developed and plot though at times predictable was always entertaining. I enjoyed the talented narration immensely as it adds a new dimension to reading and gives a new depth to the characters. I already downloaded book two.

Story
The second novel in the wildly popular First Law Trilogy from New York Times best seller Joe Abercrombie. Superior Glokta has a problem. How do you defend a city surrounded by enemies and riddled with traitors, when your allies can by no means be trusted, and your predecessor vanished without a trace? It's enough to make a torturer want to run - if he could even walk without a stick. Northmen have spilled over the border of Angland and are spreading fire and death across the frozen country. Crown Prince Ladisla is poised to drive them back and win undying glory.

A series with a second book worthy of the first
Reviewed: 05-21-18
I enjoyed the continuation of the story that has pulled me into the audible world. Characters are developed even further as the story moves on. I felt invested in their goals as the plot unfolded. Pacey continues to maintain interest in the world created by the author but brought alive by his voices. I fear I may be spoiled for future audible books as the bar is pretty high now.
