Story
The secret behind France's astonishingly well-behaved children is here. When American journalist Pamela Druckerman has a baby in Paris, she doesn't aspire to become a "French parent". French parenting isn't a known thing, like French fashion or French cheese. Even French parents themselves insist they aren't doing anything special. But French children are far better behaved and more in command of themselves than American kids....

Really enjoyed listening to this audiobook. As a first time mom (of a now four month old), I wondered about parenting an independent, loved little human. The ideas in this book definitely hit a note.

For readers or listeners of Nora Ephron, Tina Fey, and David Sedaris, this hilarious, poignant, and extremely frank collection of personal essays confirms Lena Dunham - the acclaimed creator, producer, and star of HBO's Girls - as one of the brightest and most original writers working today.

Not a fan.

I heard/read this book for a book club meet and I wasn't a fan. I had the same feeling when watching her tv show. As a person who wasn't necessarily the most outgoing and felt insecure herself while growing up (as probably many kids do), I could not relate to her at all. I tend to disagree how she viewed/handled things. So much more dramatic and attention seeking.

Loved the Story.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Alex Jennings?
Not my favorite narrator, but he did a good job. I gave him three stars because I have been spoiled by Jim Dale.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Neither. It's an entertaining book but as I have said before, character depth in the Narnia books is lacking.
Any additional comments?
I love listening to audiobooks during my hour long commute to work. These keep me sane and entertained!

Story
Digory and Polly meet and become friends one cold, wet summer in London. Their lives burst into adventure when Digory's Uncle Andrew, who thinks he is a magician, sends them hurtling to...somewhere else. They find their way to Narnia, newborn from the Lion's song, and encounter the evil sorceress Jadis, before they finally return home.

Wonderful and entertaining story.

I have been meaning to read the Chronicles of Narnia for some time now. It's a wonderful story. I hope the characters will become a little more intrinsic and involved (in later books) than they have been so far...to really be drawn in by the scenes and actions.
The book is very easy to read or listen to on my commute. It is difficult to ignore the parallels to a certain Holy Book. Nevertheless, I recommend it.
