Story
Henry and Nomi are thrilled to find out they’re going to be parents. There is so much to think about, so many decisions they’ll need to make, about feeding schedules and childcare and schools. But there’s one decision they never would have imagined facing, and even considering the choice is a minefield of emotions and experiences and expectations. After all, the only thing that hangs in the balance is the course of their child’s life.

A possible near future that chooses hope over despair, bridges instead of isolation. Moore has always been my favorite narrator and she shines, here.

Story
The people of ancient Sumer are gathered to celebrate the rite of the Sacred Marriage, a joyous and glorious testament to the unity of Goddess and Man. Times are tough, crops are failing, and this year’s ceremony holds special significance. But for the priestess Simi, the fertility rite is very personal. Because it is Simi who will be locked in a room with a stranger to carry out the blessed responsibilities. Only this time, the stranger is no stranger at all....

My favorite part was the epiphany. And that the protagonist is intersex; that an intersex person is the ultimate avatar of the goddess Annana. Excellent short story.

Story
Gracie Reed is doing just fine. Sure, she was fired by her overly “friendly” boss, and yes, she still hasn’t gotten her mother into the nursing home of their dreams, but she’s healthy, she’s (somewhat) happy, and she’s (mostly) holding it all together. But when a mysterious SUV pulls up beside her, revealing Chinese cinema's golden couple Wei Fangli and Sam Yao, Gracie’s world is turned on its head. The famous actress has a proposition: Due to their uncanny resemblance, Fangli wants Gracie to be her stand-in.

Such a wonderful and compelling story. Best contemporary reality-based book I’ve read in quite some time. The exploration of family, friendship, and belief in oneself kicked me in the feels. The intersection of the themes of bigotry and classism as well as the openness about mental health added some deep, dark chocolate layers. The protag and other main characters are fully fleshed and compelling in their vulnerability.
Would 100% recommend this to anyone.

Story
In the medieval and fantastic realm of Tortall, Keladry of Mindelan (known as Kel) is the first girl to take advantage of the decree that permits females to train for knighthood. Up against the traditional hazing of pages and a grueling schedule, Kel faces only one real roadblock: Lord Wyldon, the training master of pages and squires. He is absolutely against girls becoming knights. But Kel is not a girl to underestimate.

I listened to this (having already read it years ago) after hearing about the two women who graduated from Ranger school, and that the Seals had opened the doors long, long after G.I. Jane was made. Keel is a role model that any woman soldier can be proud to follow.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
If they hadn't wasted the first 14 minutes and 35 seconds of the total recording time (approximately 39:48) in introduction, CYOA messages and anecdotes about the difference between pain and suffering. I'm quite glad that I didn't either waste a credit on this OR pay full price.
Would you ever listen to anything by Hypnosis Live again?
I wouldn't likely take the chance, given that I've discovered they waste almost 50% of the recording's time doing other than that which I've bought the recording for. This wasn't a book about IBS, or about the subjectivity of suffering and how it differs from pain, it was SUPPOSED to be a non-traditional, self-hypnosis treatment for IBS. I would, given experience with this one of their products, have to assume that all of their products are set up the same way.
I was so irritated by the end of the preface, which I listened to at 2.5 speed to see how long it was, that I didn't actually LISTEN to the self-hypnosis portion of the recording. You know, the whole point of the purchase in the first place was to reduce irritation so I think of this as a singular failure of desired result. Well done.
Would you be willing to try another one of Hypnosis Live’s performances?
If they had changed their products to only include the portion of the recording that we all are going to be thinking it is from the synopsis, or if they break up the recording into an actual "afterword chapter" that can be ignored if the listener wants (i.e. not just tacked on at the end of the hypnosis recording... AND it's free so I am potentially only wasting my time again rather than both my time and money? MAYBE.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Combat Irritable Bowel Syndrome Hypnosis?
The entire "preface" section. You want people to know that stuff? Fine. Put it in the product description as an overview, etc., but DO NOT put it into the actual recording.
Any additional comments?
I will likely, having used a bookmark to indicate the point when the effective portion of the recording is located, to go back at some point and see if it is of any use. Good luck to others that try this and other related products of this seller.

Uncomfortable Feelings of Crossover
Reviewed: 04-26-13
Would you listen to Beauty and the Werewolf again? Why?
Yes. Because I love the series as a whole.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Beauty and the Werewolf?
I'm still in the process of listening to the story but so far it is when Belle discovers the Invisibles can communicate, followed by the music room scene.
Which scene was your favorite?
Having the cameo appearance by Godmother Elena.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The extreme reaction I had to this book was negative and involved having an uncomfortable feeling that Lackey was starting to cross her streams when she started discussing ELEMENTALS as part of the 500 Kingdoms Universe. I really like her Elementals Series, though I must say that I like the 5K series better. I really, really would appreciate them being kept SEPARATE and DISTINCT.
Any additional comments?
Gabra Zackman, per usual, EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE. Thank you!
