This was an odd story. My mind was thinking of all the directions the story could go as I was listening, but I felt as if there was no point to this story at all. How did this vacation make him rethink everything he thought he knew? A sudden attraction to a lifeguard? All this story do was leave me utterly baffled & confused. This was the only story of the GETAWAY series I didn't like

Story
Quinn Quicksilver was born a mystery—abandoned at three days old on a desert highway in Arizona. Raised in an orphanage, never knowing his parents, Quinn had a happy if unexceptional life. Until the day of “strange magnetism.” It compelled him to drive out to the middle of nowhere. It helped him find a coin worth a lot of money. And it practically saved his life when two government agents showed up in the diner in pursuit of him. Now Quinn is on the run from those agents and who knows what else, fleeing for his life.

The description had me intrigued, but fell short of my expectations. The narrator came through as choopy, though he did the different voices we'll. The storyline had potential, but the main character was too ... I don't know, I guess the best way to describe it is annoying to me. There were spots that were boring, spots that was confusing, & other spots that held my attention. I muddled through it because I hate not finishing books. I've read better books by Koontz.

Story
After more than a decade, when sisters Nikki, Sami, and Tori Knotek hear the word mom, it claws like an eagle’s talons, triggering memories that have been their secret since childhood. Until now. For years, behind the closed doors of their farmhouse in Raymond, Washington, their sadistic mother, Shelly, subjected her girls to unimaginable abuse, degradation, torture, and psychic terrors. Through it all, Nikki, Sami, and Tori developed a defiant bond that made them far less vulnerable than Shelly imagined.
