Story
Life is full of decision points - those key moments when what we decide can change everything for better or for worse. These 20 tales describe such instances in young people's lives, ranging from tragic to triumphant, from horror to fantasy to science fiction. Written by authors new and old, those known for Young Adult writing and those known for Adult novels, a few new and barely known at all, these stories will make you think, make you laugh, make you feel angry, sad, determined, etc. as you examine choices and consequences.

Stories OK, Narration awful
Reviewed: 09-29-22
The stories were alright, some I had read before, some not. But who hired the narrator and did no one listen to it before it was published. Not only does he not know how to pronounce Barrayar but he mispronounced Lois McMaster Bujolds name multie times, kept saying McCaster. Very disappointing in both the publisher and narrator, ruined that story for me.

Story
The dapper, mustache-twirling little Belgian with the egg-shaped head and curious mannerisms has solved some of the most puzzling crimes of the century - and, in his own humble opinion, is "probably the greatest detective in the world". In this complete collection of more than 50 stories, ranging from short tales to novellas, Poirot faces violent murders, poisonings, kidnappings, and thefts - all solved with his characteristic panache. Only Agatha Christie could have devised cases worthy of Hercule Poirot's skill and "little gray cells".

I enjoy many of these authors and some of the stories I heard were quite entertaining. That said, the narrator was terrible, so bad that there was no way for me to continue listening to these stories.

Excellent story, mediocre narration

An excellent start to the spin-off series with Derek Gaunt and Julie Lennart. Interesting storyline with plenty of action, humor and magic. Unfortunately I found the narrator to have an odd cadence and emphasis to his narration which made it impossible to lose myself in the story. He isn't a storyteller, he just reads the book.

I enjoy Ilona Andrews and the Innkeeper series immensely but this new narrator, Natalie Naudus, is awful. She speaks very fast, has a slightly whiny voice and uses strange, off-putting accents for different characters. After listening to the first 3 books in the series narrated by Renee Raudman I just cannot abide this new narrator. Guess I'll just read the book on my Kindle.

The legendary writer and performer of Monty Python and Fawlty Towers fame takes listeners on a grand tour of his ascent in the entertainment world John Cleese’s huge comedic influence has stretched across generations; his sharp irreverent eye and the unique brand of physical comedy he perfected now seem written into comedy’s DNA. In this rollicking memoir, Cleese recalls his humble beginnings in a sleepy English town, his early comedic days at Cambridge University (with future Python partner Graham Chapman), and the founding of the landmark comedy troupe.

Story
Neil Gaiman has long been inspired by ancient mythology in creating the fantastical realms of his fiction. Now he turns his attention back to the source, presenting a bravura rendition of the great northern tales. In Norse Mythology, Gaiman fashions primeval stories into a novelistic arc that begins with the genesis of the legendary nine worlds; delves into the exploits of the deities, dwarves, and giants; and culminates in Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods and the rebirth of a new time and people.

Very good book telling many of the Norse stories, of Gods and Giants, in the old way. Neil Gaiman is an excellent storyteller. These are not the cartoon characters of Marvel but the real stories based on the Prose Edda and other ancient texts. Definitely worth more than one listen.
