Story
Tess Durbeyfield has become one of the most famous female protagonists in 19th-century British literature. Betrayed by the two men in her life - Alec D’Urberville, her seducer/rapist and father of her fated child; and Angel, her intellectual and pious husband - Tess takes justice, and her own destiny, into her delicate hands. In telling her desperate and passionate story, Hardy brings Tess to life with an extraordinary vividness that makes her live in the heart of the reader long after the novel is concluded.

Even among iconic frontiersmen like John C. Fremont, Kit Carson, and Jedediah Smith, Jim Bridger stands out. A mountain man of the American West, straddling the fur trade era and the age of exploration, he lived the life legends are made of. Here, in a biography that finally gives this outsize character his due, Jerry Enzler takes this frontiersman's full measure for the first time—and tells a story that would do Jim Bridger proud.

Super slow and boring, I trusted the reviewers that raved about this book but couldn’t finish it.
The story tries to pull on family relationships and children growing up and understanding their parents but it’s mundane, canned and simplistic. The dialogue goes on and on until you just don’t care☹️I don’t like to give a bad review and wanted to like it. I don’t care who’s reading it to me!

Story
In this stirring audiobook, David McCullough tells the intensely human story of those who marched with General George Washington in the year of the Declaration of Independence, when the whole American cause was riding on their success, without which all hope for independence would have been dashed and the noble ideals of the Declaration would have amounted to little more than words on paper.

The thing I like about the David McCullough books is that he endeavors with success to give us a dimensional view of a time in history. All sides matter when trying to understand the events and actions of people. By analyzing this we gain insight into what we need to do with our time. Very well done and pleasant to hear the writer read it☺️

Story
Absalom, Absalom! tells the story of Thomas Sutpen, the enigmatic stranger who came to Jefferson township in the early 1830s. With a French architect and a band of wild Haitians, he wrung a fabulous plantation out of the muddy bottoms of the north Mississippi wilderness. Sutpen was a man, Faulker said, "who wanted sons and the sons destroyed him". His tragedy left its impress not only on his contemporaries but also on men who came after, men like Quentin Compson, haunted even into the 20th century by Sutpen's legacy.

Galonees books are a classic incite on life in this era. The raw human emotions and complex thinking that comes with each generation. How certain events shape the future in ways that are hard to predict. Not for beginners in writing style but worth the efforts to understand the story and shaping of each character so you understand how the actions reflect the thinking and emotions of each.

Story
The frontiersmen were a remarkable breed of men. They were often rough and illiterate, sometimes brutal and vicious, often seeking an escape in the wilderness of mid-America from crimes committed back east. In the beautiful but deadly country which would one day come to be known as West Virginia, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois, more often than not they left their bones to bleach beside forest paths or on the banks of the Ohio River.

If you like historical books that endeavor to keep their narrative as true to fact as possible this book does a good job to get your investigative juice flowing. There are a couple of places that others would refute a certain event but it’s great for knowing the back story of certain battles. And how people felt. It’s a reminder to the brutality people can demonstrate and with others the moral fortitude we respect😛the reading was easy to listen to

This trilogy was an amazing journey through history! I was able to picture my age as well as my parents and grandparents throughout the book and it provided a rare picture of the things that molded and shaped us! I loved it. My only regret was the use of bad language, I know people used it, I personally feel it’s not necessary to include so much. The reader was excellent in his portrayal of the character voices too! I still think it was very well done!
