Story
"It was a beautiful, breezy, yellow-and-green afternoon..." This is how Abby Whitshank always begins the story of how she fell in love with Red that day in July 1959. The Whitshanks are one of those families that radiate togetherness: an indefinable, enviable kind of specialness. But they are also like all families, in that the stories they tell themselves reveal only part of the picture.

liked this story but felt kind of ripped off when the one brother who was always aloft and absent did not reveal his life and what he had been doing kept waiting for it but it never came. Overall an interesting story and worth the listen

Story
You might think you want to be a member - but trust me, this is one club you don't want to join. It's not a place where people go to live out their deepest, darkest sexual desires - there are no handcuffs or blindfolds. The 27 Club only admits those who die young and tragically. Having just lost my brother to the club, there is no doubt: I'm next. This is my destiny... and I was ready to yield.

Story
In a case that spans 20 years, Harry Bosch links the bullet from a recent crime to a file from 1992, the killing of a young female photographer during the L.A. riots. Harry originally investigated the murder, but it was then handed off to the Riot Crimes Task Force and never solved. Now Bosch's ballistics match indicates that her death was not random violence, but something more personal, and connected to a deeper intrigue. Like an investigator combing through the wreckage after a plane crash, Bosch searches for the "black box", the one piece of evidence that will pull the case together.

Harry Bosh is the bomb
Reviewed: 02-04-13
Detective Harry Bosh is the one and only person I would want on a case if I were involved--unless I was the criminal. Always sensative to current issues and ready to go to any and all lenghts to bring justice to ALL victims he has quickly become one of my favorites. Harry closes cases in spite of pressures from the brass. Not being politicaly motivated is also a feather in his cap as far as I am concerned. His personal background which comes out slowly is also endearing to his persistance and makes you feel like he's someone you would like to know. The narration is also very engrossing and entertaining. I would reccommend any Harry Bosh novel.

Tess is a great writer her books grab you from the first sentence and keep you listening to the end -- this book was no exception but rather what I have come to expect from her. the characters are down to earth and you get the feeling that you could know them, live next to them, or meet someone just like them in a chance encounter. Not always the happy ending keeps this book real and interesting. Worth listening to.I'm sure she will become one of your favorites as she has mine since the first book of hers I read.

The early works are a no brainer

I read this book years ago it was actually my intro to Stephen King and the rest is history as they say. I've watched the movie many times but as usual the book is always better there were many parts which I had forgotten and as soon as I heard them I thought oh yea I remember now. This is a classic must have in any library if you are a King fan. The characters become your friends and the dangers they face become yours--like your right there beside them helping to slay the monster.

Jodi Picoult delivers the riveting tale of one small town's entanglement with high-school violence.
New York Superior Court Judge Alex Cormier is assigned to preside over the case of the alleged Sterling High School shooter. Lawyer Jordan McAffee represents Peter, the boy who, on the day of the shooting, was found in the corner of the gymnasium holding a gun to his head with a shaky hand. Detective Patrick DuCharme has one star witness, but her story keeps changing. And then there's the biggest problem of all: the star witness happens to be Judge Cormier's daughter.

As always Jodi leaps into issues which are otherwise skirted with emotional insite and compassion. The characters become real live people who could be your next door neighbors and friends. No one is perfect or protected from disaster, it could happen to any one of us and does happen to some--our reactions and actions speak volumes about us not only as friends but as human beings. Give this book a listen it's very worthwile

Story
In Ava’s dreams, her son, Noah, looks just the way she remembers him: a sweet two-year-old in rolled-up jeans and a red sweatshirt. When Ava wakes, the agonizing truth hits her all over again. Noah went missing two years ago, and his body has never been found. Almost everyone, including Ava’s semi-estranged husband, Wyatt, assumes the boy drowned after falling off the dock near their Church Island home. Ava has spent most of the past two years in and out of Seattle mental institutions, shattered by grief and unable to recall the details of Noah’s disappearance.

Edge of your seat thriller
Reviewed: 08-25-12
As promised Lisa Jackson has once again given an edge of your seat thriller--twists and turns in every direction plus a little love thrown in for good measure. She is and still remains one of my favorites. She makes you feel as if you are at the scene of the crimes and living in the main house on the island --isolated as all whom dwell there. Highly recommend for anyone who likes thrillers and mysteries.
