Jasmine Cox Larson Bush is too old for this...

I love to hate this character. Another good story about a frustrating woman. Jasmine is awful and has never really learned anything. She is self-centered and spoiled but always comes out on top.

By using suggestions, guided visualization, and post-hypnotic techniques, you will believe you have undergone a real-life gastric band operation while under sedation. The memories of the operation will remain embedded in your subconscious mind when in wakeful state, so that you are always aware of the reduced size of your stomach and the impact this has on your new eating regime. Eating large amounts of food in one meal will make you feel uncomfortable, just as it would after a real operation.

Very little hypnosis, too much explanation.

The author spent a lot of time explaining what hypnosis is and possible reasons people are overweight instead of getting right into it and conducting the hypnosis. The actual hypnosis was probably 15 percent or less of the entire book.

One experience is not the whole story...

I wanted to like this book but I don't. I respect the author's experience but I do not believe that it accurately represents the experience of children growing up in the Nation of Islam. Her family put her through a lot and the NOI was only a brief part of her experience as a Muslim. The narrator was, in my opinion, not the best choice for this book. Her pronunciation and intonation was distracting and simply off. Overall it was an interesting story of one girl's experience. I would like to hear other people share their experiences of growing up X.
