Story
In the summer of 1987, Johnny Boone set out to grow and harvest one of the greatest outdoor marijuana crops in modern times. In doing so, he set into motion a series of events that defined him and his associatesas the largest homegrown marijuana syndicate in American history, also known as the Cornbread Mafia. Author James Higdon takes listeners back to the 1970s and ‘80s and the clash between federal and local law enforcement and a band of Kentucky farmers.

Great story about how things are over there.

Well written and entertaining. Paints a picture of Marion County being more outlaw than Eastern Kentucky Which gets most of the visibility in movies.
Nice that is shows the good and bad sides of Johnny Boone. Would love to read a follow up now that he has been captured.

Cool to hear Titus do so many voices

I enjoyed the audio book. I’m a big fan of the Bosch series and loved the Lincoln Lawyer movie. Neat to see Connelly’s work bridge both of his works.
Not a good choice for my first book in the series since I have watched the series but they are fluid and you can tell a lot about the characters.
Gotta start another one next week. Can’t wait.

Story
Smart, hilarious, and incisive, the Liberal Rednecks confront outdated traditions and intolerant attitudes, tackling everything people think they know about the South - the good, the bad, the glorious, and the shameful - in a laugh-out-loud funny and lively manifesto for the rise of a New South. Home to some of the best music, athletes, soldiers, whiskey, waffles, and weather the country has to offer, the South has also been bathing in backward bathroom bills and other bigoted legislation.

This was a great way to experience the print version of the book. I think maybe it was better since you get to her it in their voices as well as the inflections.
