Story
At the age of thirty-six, on the verge of completing a decade’s worth of training as a neurosurgeon, Paul Kalanithi was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer. One day he was a doctor treating the dying, and the next he was a patient struggling to live. And just like that, the future he and his wife had imagined evaporated.

Phenomenal book!

I cried at the end.

As someone who also works in the healthcare field, I found this book to be both eye opening and inspiring. I could really feel the weight of the choices Paul, as well as his family, had to make in these circumstances. Even though I see families/patients make these choices over and over and I can’t say it ever feels like routine but listening to this audio book revived that sense of urgency. What if I would face this? Being on both sides of the spectrum, the author really gives a beautiful perspective and meaning of life. The reality of time and daily choices that we make is raw and presented well. As an expecting first time mother, this book also deeply tugged my emotional strings. I seriously just cried at the end. This is a beautiful book! I recommend.

Story
"White Nights" is the third major Dostoyevsky short story that everyone should read or listen to, along with "A Faint Heart" and "The Christmas Tree and Wedding". The story contains a series of Winesburg, Ohio-like moments: a woman and man meet on the First Night; proceed to meet again on the Second and Third, almost fall in love, and at the last minute the former lover of the woman returns to take her away. But the point is that the man had a glorious moment....

I wish it was dramatized.

Somewhat hard to understand who is speaking when. So a dramatized version would have been a lot easier to follow. But overall not too bad. A short little classic. And intro to the authors work.

Story
One afternoon - after another failed attempt to get motivated to exercise - I (accidentally) started my first mini habit. I initially committed to do one push-up, and it turned into a full workout. I was shocked. This "stupid idea" wasn't supposed to work. I was shocked again when my success with this strategy continued for months (and to this day). I had to consider that maybe I wasn't the problem in those 10 years of mediocre results. Maybe it was my prior strategies that were ineffective, despite being oft-repeated as "the way to change" in countless books.

Great strategy. I wish I read this book earlier!

The concept is easy and so far I have been successful with my mini habits. I'll give it more time and write another review based on my results. Otherwise the book was great. I really want to share it with all my friends now. I recommend listening to this book.
