The Siobhan Dunmoore Series Boxed Set Audiobook By Eric Thomson cover art

Fantastic start to a series, be warned though.

The first three books were a fantastic experience, character development, gripping story and the Narrator was a huge part of the building excitement to continue on.

Sadly, I couldn't make it more than a third of the way through the Fourth book because the narrator was so monotone and lacking in any character distinction that it made the listing extremely obnoxious and painfully tedious.

I am resigned to finishing the series on Kindle.

A great series killed by a mediocre narrator.

The first three books built a beautiful universe and an excitement to continue on with the series. The narrator was just as integral to that excitement as the story itself.

Sadly, I have quit the fourth book before making it one third of the way in because the narrator is so substandard and monotone with no differentiation between characters that it makes it painful and obnoxious.

Looking at the rest of the books and seeing this narrator is doing all of them, has me just quitting the series altogether.

I will find these books on Kindle and read them there.

Well written, characters were quickly as familiar as good friends at a local bar. The overall story of humanity as the underdog was enjoyable against the standard trope of humanity always being somehow superior. a great listen.
Mark Boyett as always, did a fantastic job narrating this wonderful story. His command of characterization and gender differences was superb!

From the beginning I was hooked by the main character. The struggles of the everyman against adversity and his coming to grips with his new found reality. The story was fresh and engaging and never left me wanting. Character development and voicing were superb.

The only negative was the apparent 6th grade vocabulary and the hooked on phonics attempt at pronouncing words with which the narrator was apparently unfamiliar. This significantly distracted me from enjoying the segments of the story where these failed attempts at pronouncing occurred.

A thoroughly engaging story with humour, angst, pain and joy! Initially the characters seemed quite mundane, as the story progressed understanding set in and the joy of watching these characters develop, to me, made this story amazing. The plot and main character arc wove seemlessly and never stalled or digressed. The narrator did a phenomenal job of capturing the nuances of each character's essence and expressive idiosyncrasies. I am pleased I gave it a listen.
