couldn't get past the horrible narration

I really wanted to love this. Certainly an interesting story, but the narration is awful. Major mispronunciation of words, strange cadence, and overall just fell very, very flat.

Story
A major North American hydroelectric dam is blown up and the largest off-shore oil field in this hemisphere is destroyed in a brutal, coordinated terrorist attack. But there was one factor that the terrorists didn't take into account when they struck the Capitana platform off the coast of Colombia—slaughtering much of the crew and blowing up the platform—and that was the Capitana crew chief Dewey Andreas. Dewey, former Army Ranger and Delta, survives the attack, rescuing as many of his men as possible. But the battle has just begun.

Interesting, but felt unfinished...and racist.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Yes, it was time well spent, as it helped pass the tedious time of painting a bedroom and cleaning the house.
Would you be willing to try another book from Ben Coes? Why or why not?
Unfortunately - no. While the story was fairly interesting, there were too many story lines left unfinished or finished abruptly with no real wrap to them. Also - it was difficult to get past the massive anti-Muslim sentiment, the classifying every female character in terms of her physical appearance and level of attractiveness, weight, and breast size. Essentially, author comes across as a misogynist and all around anti-anything-not-American person. Which is a shame, because it overshadowed what was otherwise a pretty interesting story
Have you listened to any of Peter Hermann’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have not, but he was excellent and I would absolutely listen to his narration again.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
No.
