Story
First published in 1875, General William T. Sherman's memoir was one of the first from the Civil War and was offered to the public because, as Sherman wrote in his dedication, "no satisfactory history" of the war was yet available. Although Memoirs has been revised and corrected many times over the years, Sherman famously never changed the original text of his recollections.

Insight into the Civil War
Reviewed: 06-22-21
This is not a history book but rather the recollections and views of Gen William T. Sherman. It's very interesting from the stand point of the dispatches and memoirs he sent, received, and kept during his life. However, if one is looking for a history of the Civil War this is not the audio book one should choose. It is a great source of original material to supplement books on the subject.

Story
Throughout the Gulf War of 1991, unprecedented restrictions on the media’s access to the battlefield kept the true story of that brief, brutal conflict from being told. Now, after two years of intensive research, Rick Atkinson has written what will surely come to be recognized as the definitive chronicle of the war.

the narrator was horrible

The story was fantastic and well-written however, the narrator cannot pronounce a word to save his life. Even simple names you couldn't pronounce. It's a shame because the story is well written well-researched and provides excellent insight in to the National Command Authority in time of war.

Story
In the second book of the Army of the Potomac Trilogy, Bruce Catton - one of America's most honored Civil War historians - once again brings the great battles and the men who fought them to breathtaking life. As the War Between the States moved through its second bloody year, General Ambrose Burnside was selected by President Lincoln to replace the ineffectual George "Little Mac" McClellan as commander of the Union Army. But the hope that greeted Burnside's ascension was quickly dashed in December 1862 in the wake of his devastating defeat at Fredericksburg.

Great story, horrible reader!
Reviewed: 03-25-17
Bruce Catton books are wonderful reads but why would the audio book producer hire a talent that cannot properly pronounce names is maddening! Additionally, this reader has the horrible habit of over enunciating every word and sounds as though he began reading after climbing ten flights of stairs. Great story but awful talent! Word of advice to the producer, spend a little extra next time and get better talent.
