unexpected pleasure

I watched one YouTube video and bought this on impulse after I read your YouTube ad. Thoroughly enjoyed it and it will definitely influence my upcoming trip to Japan. Chris if you read audible comments you seem really down to earth and remarkable, what an incredible life.

Story
Dirk Struan rose from humble beginnings to build Struan & Company, also known as the Noble House, into the world’s largest Far East trading company. He is now the Tai-Pan—Supreme Leader—of all Tai-Pans in China. Along the way, however, he made a powerful enemy. Tyler Brock, Struan’s rival from their early opium-smuggling days, also heads a large trading fleet, second in size only to Struan’s. But it is not only silks and spices that drive their mutual companies’ wealth—the opium trade is still booming.

I really struggled to start this after finishing sho-gun, because this is not sho-gun. However, after overcoming the initial hump, this is its own incredible story that is just as captivating and interesting. I can't wait to get the next book.
