Story
St Mary's has never lacked for enemies, but danger has never been closer to home. A state of war has broken out between St Mary's and the Women's Institute - the Raffia Mafia. Markham, Max, Peterson and Miss Sykes must jump to Restoration London in search of real Christmas pie - the honour of St Mary's is at stake. At least that how it all begins, but this is St Mary's after all.

Story
Once the Church of God Awaiting dominated all the kingdoms of Safehold. Then, after centuries of stasis, the island kingdom of Charis began to defy the edicts of Mother Church—egged on, some say, by the mysterious warrior-monk Merlin Athrawes, who enjoys the Charisian royal family's absolute trust. What vanishingly few people know is that Merlin is the cybernetic avatar of a young woman a thousand years dead, felled in the war in which aliens destroyed Earth...and that since awakening, his task has been to restart the history of the long-hidden human race.

Great Story - Poor Production
Reviewed: 04-30-16
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
The story is the quintessential David Weber Safehold (I own the hard covers). However, this particular Audible production stands out because of the lack of continuity in production values with the prior five novels. What stands out as the worst of the values is the lack of consistency in pronunciations used for the "Safeholdian" names and places in the previous productions. In short, it is as if no one of this production team bothered to listen to, even in cursory fashion, the other productions.
It makes following the story very jarring. What further detracts from the audible production is the mis-pronunciation of common words as opposed to the Safeholdian names and places; example: Adjutant.
Would you be willing to try another one of Kevin T. Collins’s performances?
Not willingly if the voice actor continues with the lack of research into the prior pronunciations used in the Weber novels.
