Story
A Great Winged One will soon arise and cast his fearsome shadow upon the land. And just as Night slays Day, and Day slays Night, so also shall another Black Witch rise to meet him, her powers vast beyond imagining. So foretells the greatest prophecy of the Gardnerian mages. Carnissa Gardner, the last prophesied Black Witch, drove back the enemy forces and saved her people during the Realm War. Now a new evil is on the horizon, and her granddaughter, Elloren, is believed to be Carnissa's heir—but utterly devoid of power in a society that prizes magical ability above nearly all else.

The best magical read since Harry Potter

Quite possibly better than Harry Potter. The diversity of characters and their unique abilities adds a depth of possibilities. I can't wait to start the second book.

Story
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Refreshingly candid and honest

I have never followed the tabloids or been particularly interested in gossip about the royal family since Princess Diana's death. This honest account by Prince Harry about his life kept me listening to the very end. It definitely reminds us that you can't believe everything you read in the papers, and how horrible and inhumane paparazzi can be.

Not what I was hoping for or expected from the first two minutes on, based on the description. Getting tired of trying new male authors who think writing with their manhood works better than a pen.

Story
At 23, Andrew Forsthoefel headed out the back door of his home in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, with a backpack, an audio recorder, his copies of Whitman and Rilke, and a sign that read "Walking to Listen". He had just graduated from Middlebury College and was ready to begin his adult life, but he didn't know how. So he decided to take a cross-country quest for guidance, one where everyone he met would be his guide. In the year that followed, he faced an Appalachian winter and a Mojave summer. He met beasts inside: fear, loneliness, doubt.

An incredible journey by an obviously exceptional young man. Listening to his interviews and first hand experiences is very eye-opening, and gives you a little more faith in humanity during a much-needed time.

Story
In Journeys North, legendary trail angel, thru hiker, and former PCTA board member Barney Scout Mann spins a compelling tale of six hikers on the Pacific Crest Trail in 2007 as they walk from Mexico to Canada. This ensemble story unfolds as these half-dozen hikers - including Barney and his wife, Sandy - trod north, slowly forming relationships and revealing their deepest secrets and aspirations. They face a once-in-a-generation drought and early severe winter storms that test their will in this bare-knuckled adventure.

Well written, heartfelt in how close the group becomes, and how they look out for each other until the end. Inspiring for both someone wishing to do what they did, but also Mann writes about hope and the good side of selfless mankind at a time our country's morale couldn't need it more.
