Story
Samantha is a professional seductress and con artist with a heart of gold. If she talked about her work, she’d tell you she only pilfers organs for medical research and that she only takes one kidney, and she only steals those kidneys from dishonest people. It’s hell on her social life. Abe is the doctor and Sam's partner in crime. He isn’t much of a criminal. Except for the kidney stealing. But he’s using that money to fund his research that he anticipates will be able to cure diabetes. So, all for a good cause...? You decide. Of course, it's hell on his social life.

Made Me Laugh!
Reviewed: 03-28-20
I listened to this audible while out walking by myself. Right now I needed something to push all the negative news out of my head and just laugh a little. Meg Ryan is a great narrator and the performers are really good. The story a little wild but you have to go with it. Sometimes when the characters are all talking it gets a bit confusing as to who is who but you'll get it. I would recommend this audible if you want a good distraction from the daily news.

Through decades of music by one of the best-selling musicians of all time, who created classics like "Fire and Rain" and "Carolina in My Mind", James Taylor has doled out his history in the poetry of his work. Taylor says his early life is, "the source of many of my songs", and Break Shot is a tour of his first 21 years in rich, new detail.

James Taylor defined my college years. I never really knew much about his early years as told in this audible. I did know that he was married to Carly Simon and that he spent some time in a mental health facility. I also knew that he made great music! This audible book really touched my heart and soul, and having James Taylor read it was just beautiful. Some of his songs are dispersed through the book and hearing his voice again brought back so many memories of where I was when I heard them. I did not know how close he was to Peter Asher and The Beatles. I cried at the end of the book because listening to him sing, especially now with what our world is going through, gave me hope and gratitude. If you are a fan (or not), listen to this one. It's a gem!

Story
Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, Tara Westover was seventeen the first time she set foot in a classroom. Her family was so isolated from mainstream society that there was no one to ensure the children received an education, and no one to intervene when one of Tara’s older brothers became violent. When another brother got himself into college, Tara decided to try a new kind of life. Her quest for knowledge transformed her, taking her over oceans and across continents, to Harvard and to Cambridge University.

What an absolutely amazing woman. Bravo Dr. Westover!

Story
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

I absolutely loved listening to Where The Crawdads Sing. Delia Owens was an amazing narrator and storyteller. I was so intrigued with the book, that I lost all track of time when I was listening. The main character was pathetically abandoned as a child and found her life and all of her nurturing from the marsh where she lived. Considering her background and childhood, she is strong and finds survival and solace in her natural surroundings. You really want to root for her throughout the entire book! Congrats to Ms. Owens and Ms. Campbell for giving us a beautiful story and narration. I didn't want the book to end.

Story
In 1780s London, a prosperous merchant finds his quiet life upended when he unexpectedly receives an unusual creature - and meets a most extraordinary woman - in this much-lauded, atmospheric debut that examines our capacity for wonder, obsession, and desire. One September evening in 1785, Jonah Hancock hears an urgent knocking on his front door near the docks of London. The captain of one of Jonah’s trading vessels is waiting eagerly on the front step, bearing shocking news. On a voyage to the Far East, he sold the Jonah’s ship for something rare and far more precious: a mermaid.

I really thought that I would enjoy this book and was looking forward to listening. I did finish it because I kept thinking that it has to get better. But sadly, it did not. It dragged in chapters and I wondered why some chapters were even in the book. The narration was good as there were lots of characters and I was able to distinguish them. If I were to give someone advice it would be don't waste your money or your time unless you are really into historical fiction and even then I don't know if it was accurate. I give the author points for writing it.

Bob Newhart is just timeless! I so enjoyed listening to Bob and his guests talk about comedy. Whether television (and early television), stand-up or just sharing stories about their show biz experiences, this audio book was pure fun. I always liked Bob and what's so amazing is that even in his late 80's, he conversed with much younger comedians such as Conan O'Brien, Sarah Silverman and Jimmy Kimmel and was up on everything! The conversations were interesting and funny and I was laughing out loud in my car. I really didn't want the audio book to end. If you like Bob and remember the old days of comedy with Don Rickles, Johnny Carson etc., you don't want to miss Hi Bob!

For me, The Coming Storm was way more information about the weather, NOAA, the US Government and tornados than I thought existed. This short listen crammed a lot of information about data and weather predictions and the effects on The USA, its people and certain businesses. I am a weather buff so I enjoyed the listen. Not sure if others would enjoy it however, I found the facts fascinating. Michael Lewis did a great narration too!

Lacey Terwilliger's shock and humiliation over her husband's philandering prompt her to add some bonus material to Mike's company newsletter: stunning Technicolor descriptions of the special brand of "administrative support" his receptionist gives him. Very Disappointing!
Reviewed: 06-24-18
I was truly looking forward to listening to Something in the Water because the description of the book sounded interesting and it was recommended by Reese Witherspoon and her recommendations are usually good. How disappointing! The main character Erin, was portrayed as a very smart woman, however she kept making the most stupid, reckless decisions and then she would beat herself up for them. Okay I thought, maybe one learns from their mistakes. But no! She kept going- one bad decision after the other. I actually picked up a scene in the book that tipped me off to the ending but no mention was ever made of it in the book. It was very obvious to me how the book would end yet Erin never realized that one situation that started the ball rolling. It was never followed up in the book which was quite surprising. Anyway, I agree with the reviewers who gave the book 1 star. I finished it because somehow, like Erin, I made a very bad decision! I'm giving some credit to Catherine Steadman for reading her own book and she was good. What she was reading was not.
