Story
"That Others May Live" is a mantra that defines the fearless men of Alaska's 212th Pararescue Unit, the PJs, one of the most elite military forces on the planet. Whether they are rescuing citizens injured and freezing in the Alaskan wilderness or saving wounded Rangers and SEALs in blazing firefights at war, the PJs are the least known and most highly trained of America's warriors. Never Quit is the true story of how Jimmy Settle, an Alaskan shoe-store clerk, became a Special Forces Operator and war hero.

A Different View of the Spec Ops World

What did you love best about Never Quit?
The book was well written and it kept my attention throughout. The author allows us civilians to see another side of the special operations world. While most of these books share missions in which the enemy ends up dead, this is about saving lives.
What other book might you compare Never Quit to and why?
I don't think I can compare this book to others in the same category. The main thing this book has in common with others, is the operators ability to literally never quit no matter what. That by itself is impressive.
Which scene was your favorite?
**SPOILER**
The author and his friend spray painting green frogs everywhere while in jump school. Just imaging the look on everyone's faces (especially the leadership) had me laughing pretty good.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Not sure. It's better it doesn't get made into a movie. Hollywood will just butcher the real story anyways.
Any additional comments?
It would have been nice if there were more missions included in the story.

Story
For nearly a decade, Brett Velicovich was at the center of America's new warfare: using unmanned aerial vehicles - drones - to take down the world's deadliest terrorists across the globe. One of an elite handful in the entire military with the authority to select targets and issue death orders, he worked in concert with the full human and technological network of American intelligence - assets, analysts, spies, informants - and the military's elite operatives to stalk, capture, and eliminate high-value targets in al-Qaeda and ISIS.

If You Like War Stories, You'll Enjoy This Book.

If you are familiar with most books in this category you will know that a majority of them are written by the special operators themselves, however, this book gives an entirely new and (very) interesting perspective as it sheds light on the drone/intel side of the war on terror. This book helps the reader/listener get a better idea of what drones do and how drone strikes are conducted. While the author isn't in "direct action," that doesn't mean there aren't just as many interesting and exciting stories in the book. I also thought the narrator did an excellent job.
Bottom Line - if you enjoy books in this category, you will enjoy this book
