Story
When I arrive unannounced at my husband's studio in need of a shoulder to cry on after hearing that my best student, Alex, has died, I see a pair of wineglasses drying by the sink, and my deepest fear is confirmed: my husband is having an affair. Most women would fall to their knees in tears and throw him out of the house - but I just can't bring myself to do it. Instead, I go home and cook a healthy dinner for our children, walk the dog, and unload the dishwasher without complaint. I need this marriage to work to protect a terrible secret of my own....

Unexpected
Reviewed: 12-07-21
I love when you're reading and think you've figured it out, only to be surprised by the ending as not what you had expected. Great twist! There were times I thought the character, Anna, didn't need to be portrayed with such weakness or victimization, but otherwise was a great read.

Story
Investigative journalist Laura Chambers is back in her tiny hometown of Hillsborough, North Carolina, the one place she swore never to return. Fired from The Boston Globe, her career in shambles, she reluctantly takes a job with the local paper. The work is simple, unimportant, and worst of all, boring - at least until a missing girl turns up dead, the body impeccably clean, dressed to be the picture of innocence. Years earlier, 10-year-old Patty Finch left home and never made it back. But for the people of Hillsborough, Patty was just the beginning.

Story
Some places seem too beautiful to be touched by horror. Summit Lake, nestled in North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains, is that kind of place. But two weeks ago, Becca Eckersley, a first-year law student and daughter of a powerful attorney, was brutally murdered there. Now the town is reeling with grief, and the police are baffled.

Summit Lake delivered a fantastic and suspenseful story that kept you guessing the ending. I enjoyed every moment and especially loved the cliff-hanging moments lending to a page-turner read. An excellent and believable story. Well done!

Story
Hen and her husband, Lloyd, have settled into a quiet life in a new house outside of Boston, Massachusetts. Hen (short for Henrietta) is an illustrator and works out of a studio nearby and has found the right meds to control her bipolar disorder. Finally, she’s found some stability and peace. But when they meet the neighbors next door, that calm begins to erode as she spots a familiar object displayed on the husband’s office shelf. The sports trophy looks exactly like one that went missing from the home of a young man who was killed two years ago.

Sensational Villain!

What a great read, or shall I say listen since I listened to the book on Audible. My favorite part is the reveal of the villain(s), but then left me with questions about how did Mira knew Richard. I enjoyed this book in every aspect. 👍

Kristen Proby knows how to take you on a journey. This book so far is my favorite. I love the empowered women she characterizes as well as the vulnerability with a touch of masculinity of her male characters, and it's a perfect balance. This book delivered an emotional rollercoaster ride with the ups and downs with the twists and turns. My heart was literally torn and then put back together again with this storyline. It was an amazing journey that brought me both tears of pain and tears of joy. I wanted to restart the book once it finished because I just didn't want the feels to go away. I listened to the audible version, and the narrators are by far my favorite and deliver a sexy and realistic story.

The Rapping Astronaut was a fantastic story. It did not disappoint! I loved the creativity of Quietville. The characters were outstanding. This story had an excellent delivery of suspense and surprise. I especially loved the use of sign language since my brother is deaf, and it especially touched my heart. I look forward to more stories from this talented author.

Jo was certain her charming new boss imperiled everything she cared for, but she couldn't deny the attraction between them. Though Keane's kisses left her breathless, it was his tenderness that threatened to tame her heart.
