I love the details about life during the depression and life on the rails. The characters snag your heart and gave hope from the goodness and generosity of others. Thank you for a wonderful book!

I thought the author did a really good job of describing the circumstances surrounding the defeat of Bataan with a very descriptive story line. The only distraction was the repeated misprounciation of the word "corpsman". The narrator kept saying "CorPsman", The 'P' is silent. The English teacher in me kept wanting to correct the narrator. Other than that minor blip, well done!

If you don't know history, you're bound to repeat t it. This story describes the efforts of every day French in trying to survive the evils perpetrated on them by occupying Nazis. Their efforts were so heroic. I'm not sure I would have had the metal to be as strong and I pray I don't have to ever find out. Take heed to stop this from ever happening again .

I love how this book continues to immerse the reader in the character's lives from the first novel, Shantaram. I hope that the author continues to write and explore characters across India in future novels, but especially Bombay. The descriptions and respect for cultural diversities in his novels is really a gift to the reader!

I'm an avid reader. Of the thousands of books I've read in my 70 years, THIS book is in my top 5. The story and it's characters grab you, makes you laugh, cry, rejoice and relive the feelings we all have had when discovering books for the first time. Give yourself the gift of this book and enjoy!

I just loved every minutes of this! Lots of intertwining of TP and St. Mary's staff in the story line. Would really like to see more of Smallhope and Pennyroyal in future books. Thank you Jodi and Zara for the hours of entertainment!

I enjoyed the book until the ending. It felt like the ending was chopped off. I actually checked to see if there was something wrong with the audio book recording. Is there a part 2? More of the story? Story characters left me hanging.

Zara Ramm's narration is excellent as always! Once again, Ms. Taylor's story telling is humorous, compelling and just down right enjoyable! I love how she sneaked in the titles of her other books (YES! I noticed because I've read them all). I'm off to start the Time Police series to wait not-so-patienly for the next St. Mary's book. Thank you Zara and Jodi for bringing us such adveture and humor!

Ms. Taylor's St. Mary's series keeps getting better with each book. I laughed, I cried, and so love the character development and story line as she weaves past and present. I hope she never stops this series!
