Tormented at home and bullied during her studies abroad, second-born Iona of Wessett hides in the quiet corners of her father's castle. Her art and music provide refuge, but her cruel sister Lisenn ever lurks like a monster stalking its prey. Such has been her life for 20 years. Whhaaatttt!!!!!, I didn’t see that coming! This is a good book. While, you take that ride into suspense fulness . You find that there are ups, downs, twists, turns. And, that slap over the mouth. Again, I didn’t see that coming. So of course I am rereading (listening to) it again.
Yes, get the book!!! I just wish the ending was a little different.
(You know, the Epilogue)
I wanted to hear a little more about the people, the wedding, and there LOVE!

Luz Alana set sail from Santo Domingo armed with three hundred casks of rum, her two best friends and one simple rule: under no circumstances is she to fall in love. In the City of Lights, she intends to expand the rum business her family built over three generations, but buyers and shippers alike can’t imagine doing business with a woman…never mind a woman of color. This, paired with being denied access to her inheritance unless she marries, leaves the heiress in a very precarious position.

BWWM, Caribbean Flavored historical Romance!!!
Reviewed: 06-03-22
Loved It! Something different from the Monotonous, bland usuals. I love the historical Caribbean romance. This book, added more to the one way of the British period thinking. After all if your gonna write a novel, Broaden the complete mind and differences. This book hit it on the nose. It took the beauty of life. The color of love and the wonders of attraction and made it blossom. Without staining the pages of ugliness. As it is often done when it comes to people of color Yes, everyone knows how the people of color was mistreated. But, it’s how this book handled it that make a great book… 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Looking forward to the next book. It’s a great stand alone. BUT, most definitely want to know more of the other Lionesses!!!

This is a definite RE-listen over and over.
You’ll always find something that you missed.
Didn’t pay attention too. Or, fell in love with…
I love Rowen’s strengths and courage. But,
she was VERY sarcastic, and VERY hard headed..
That girl was destined, for some kind of trouble.. AND,
the best lesson’s learned, are the ones you teach yourself!!!
(As my mama would say) So I look forward to more on her, more on them, more on her family…. I need MORE!
And the NARRATOR… is PERFECTION!!!
(SA) I must get a pet and name it Lemmikki!!! LOL 😆

Loved the laughter, the passion, the ethnicity in this book.
Enjoyed the story and how it is told with another race in mind (asian decent).
Even with the problems of racism, culture, ethnicity and a persons station.
