I loved this book. But somehow got the abridged version. Since I needed for a book club discussion I had to buy another whole book from Amazon. Make sure you're okay with abridged. I found I missed a lot.

Story
Forty-eight hours after leaving her husband's body at the base of the stairs, Tanya Dubois cashes in her credit cards, dyes her hair brown, demands a new name from a shadowy voice over the phone, and flees town. It's not the first time. She meets Blue, a female bartender who recognizes the hunted look in a fugitive's eyes and offers her a place to stay. With dwindling choices, Tanya-now-Amelia accepts. An uneasy - and dangerous - alliance is born.

Twisted but very interesting

Wished I had the book edition instead of audible while I was listening. So many times I wanted to go back to an earlier time to check something that would help clear something up. When I was done with the book, it all came together and I realized '"going back" would not have helped. I really liked the main character. A little bad and a lot of good.
Also, it was hard to listen to because of the reader. She spoke very slow for many of the characters. Sometimes they almost sounded ignorant. Then in the end she changed her 'friend' Blue's accent to a southerner. Couldn't figure that one out. A really great story though. Couldn't stop 'reading' it once I started.

Story
>When South African conservationist Lawrence Anthony was asked to accept a herd of "rogue" wild elephants on his Thula Thula game reserve in Zululand, his common sense told him to refuse. But he was the herd's last chance of survival: they would be killed if he wouldn't take them. In order to save their lives, Anthony took them in. In the years that followed he became a part of their family. And as he battled to create a bond with the elephants, he came to realize that they had a great deal to teach him about life, loyalty, and freedom.

Any additional comments?
Sometimes I don't really like the books our book club chooses for the month, but this was fabulous all around. So enriching, so exciting and the reader was good for this book. I laughed and cried and bothered people by telling them over and over to read or listen to this book. Wonderful!
