Story
Richard Mayhew is a young man with a good heart and an ordinary life, which is changed forever when he stops to help a girl he finds bleeding on a London sidewalk. His small act of kindness propels him into a world he never dreamed existed. There are people who fall through the cracks, and Richard has become one of them. And he must learn to survive in this city of shadows and darkness, monsters and saints, murderers and angels, if he is ever to return to the London that he knew.

Neil Gaiman, is always worth the read.

It does not matter which title you pick: Neil Gaiman’s books are soaring adventures that seesaw you from childlike imagination to mature thought provocation.
Neverwhere specifically is my second favorite, only behind Stardust.
If you’ve ever looked at a door and wondered if maybe it could take you somewhere else than your logical brain tells you it does, this book is for you.
Neverwhere is a bunch of fun. Mystery, combined with the scope of human emotion; it is beautifully executed humor, darkness and empathy.
I highly recommend, thank you for reading.

Story
You are a failed novelist about to turn 50. A wedding invitation arrives in the mail: Your boyfriend of the past nine years is engaged to someone else. You can't say yes - it would be too awkward - and you can't say no - it would look like defeat. On your desk are a series of invitations to half-baked literary events around the world. Question: How do you arrange to skip town? Answer: You accept them all.

Great story - empty after feelings
Reviewed: 08-10-23
I do not aim to criticize as the author is clearly very talented. I enjoyed listening to this book, and I understand it’s meant to reflect reality (more or less, NPI).
That being said I was left with a measure of emptiness upon finishing, I listened to the second book as well and it did not satisfy.
Books like Call Me by Your Name or Normal People have also left me with an adjacent feeling but in their cases - a sense of resolve and understanding. This book left me with a sense of needing more which I never received.
I would still recommend for a heartfelt listen but be warned, you may end up in my shoes.
Thanks for reading.

Story
Many of us are aware of the ethical minefield that is fast fashion: the dodgy labor practices, the lax environmental standards, and the mountains of waste piling up on the shores of developing countries. But have you stopped to consider the dangerous effects your clothes are having on your own health? Award-winning journalist Alden Wicker breaks open a story hiding in plain sight: the unregulated toxic chemicals that are likely in your wardrobe right now, how they’re harming you, and what you can do about it.

Story
Little River, New York, 1994: April Sawicki is living in a motorless motorhome that her father won in a poker game. Failing out of school, picking up shifts at a local diner, she’s left fending for herself in a town where she’s never quite felt at home. When she “borrows” her neighbor’s car to perform at an open mic night, she realizes her life could be much bigger than where she came from. After a fight with her dad, April packs her stuff and leaves for good, setting off on a journey to find a life that’s all hers.

This book is so heartfelt and real, I think everyone who’s ever been lost should give it a listen (or read).
The narrator delivers the story perfectly. The writing makes you feel like you’re there.
It’s more than worth it.

Story
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

My least favorite book I have read in quite some time. Honestly it was probably the narration. The actual story wasn’t bad, but still- I strongly disliked it.
